A plague hits Martians...So, What Becomes of the Mars Unvaccinated?

In a future a person on Mars still believes in political conspiracies.

Some years into the future Mars has thousands upon thousands of workers and then it is hit by an outbreak. Mars has different local counties and smaller Mars town/city states and some of its rules are set there for years like Royalty or a Mars Dynasty. There are series of competing local governments, there are local Corp Rule, big Corporations from the USA, Japan, Russia, Europe, China and South America that went on to become multi planetary and grow to to have influence inside of Mars, the US culture was the dominant influence on Mars. This virus is spreading fast and has now arrived in all towns across Mars. Nobody fully knows what this virus is, 2% of the workforce are dying, a new treatment is out but because Mars people feel politically mistreated, local Doctors are home made cures are more trusted than Earth cures. Earth is seen as a bad influence on local Mars politics and few of them on Mars fully trust the Corps with links to Earth medical companies. The enhanced Genetically Engineered offworld people descendants of the first engineered colonists have a less than 1% chance of dying while a regular Martian has 2%. Some say let the virus burn through the Genetically Engineered and this might create a herd immunity. There is now evidence the Mars virus could mutate and spread to the animals inside Mars Biodomes. Should Mars ban unvaccinated civil servants from their official offices, could workers be fired and isolated from the Mars mines or will Mars be a place of personal choice and freedoms? One local Mars ruler and tv news corp from Earth says everyone must take the jab otherwise the un-vaccinated will spread this new virus and the Mars medical facility will becoming overloaded/full with Mars-virus patients, some Mars people believe in a much wider conspiracy. The tourism industry between Mars and Earth faces complete collapse. One person on Earth has already died of this new virus, for the first time in history there is now a ban on manned travel between Earth and Mars. A local Mars political group posted some messages on the galactic vid interweb and says its all part of a larger Solar System Conspiracy Plot before his broadcast was shut down, people complain the CEO of the galactic vid interweb is shutting down free speech.

In one region on Mars they change and say Unvaccinated people on Mars are FINALLY allowed to leave for over-planetary trips to the Moon, a member of the Solar-System-Force has also spoken out politically.

Mars would find quarantine far easier to implement. All the habs are sealed off from each other already, and should have quite a sizeable buffer of air and water and food as standard because they live in a place where the consequences of not having sizeable buffers are far worse than they are on Terra.

They'd also be far less likely to have airborne pandemics anyway, because they'd actually acknowledge the pandemics are airborne and keep the air filtered and ventilated to stop spread.

Some science fiction of ours is very Optimistic and Uptopian but what of the stories when it is not
If Vilos Cohagen thought lockdowns were too expensive what else would he do?

'In thirty seconds you'll be dead, and i"ll blow this place up and be home in time for cornflakes'

or some video games have strange personality types

Our scientists now use fractal theory to "teach" the molecules to assume, or resume, a particular form. Substances of amazing strength become simple once the formulae are properly computed.

I agree the nature of space already has people more or less in quarantine, however what if the virus spread through the Mars transport system or was inside one of the big mines where almost everyone from every region on Mars works.

Have you made the assumption the virus is in the air like other Earth viruses, what if it was engineered to survive on products surfaces and shipment products,  or what if the virus got into the water supply outbreak of waterborne human cryptosporidiosis, hepatitis A, schistosomiasis, amebiasis. For example many many infectious Diseases, Parasites and Virus are Spread Through Water across Earth, on Earth these bacteria, viruses, and parasites have a hard time entering government monitored and state drinking water – because most First World public water systems can block them out completely...however what if its a new virus, engineered or what if Mars is a frontier series of poorer nation states that have problems? Also I did not say the virus was in the air of the Biodome, I said it is spreading and it is an unknown.

Remember the real-life Apollo Moon Microbe Mystery, some believe it’s not entirely impossible for the bacteria to have survived on the Moon, or the panspermia theory.

'Nobody fully knows what this virus is'

what if Mars is a frontier series of poorer nation states that have problems?

Then they'll all perish when their airlock seals degrade or their scrubbers fail and someone else will move in and salvage what they can.

A plague would certainly need to be engineered rather than natural occurring to post a threat. How do you get a waterborne disease to survive the levels of treatment the water will be going through? That's not going to happen unless humans make it so.
