Scientists Reveal World’s First 3D-Printed, Marbled Wagyu Beef
Scientists from Osaka University have manufactured the world’s first 3D-printed Wagyu beef by using stem cells isolated from Japanese cattle, according to a press release. The product looks like a realistic steak piece containing muscle, fat, and blood vessels.

The researchers used two types of stem cells, bovine satellite cells and adipose-derived stem cells, insulated from Wagyu cows, according to the paper published in the journal Nature Communications. Then, they incubated and coaxed the cells into becoming the various cell types required to generate individual fibers for muscle, fat, and blood vessels. These were piled into a 3D stack to resemble the marbling of Wagyu.Then, the researchers adapted a technique inspired by the one used to produce Japanese Kintaro candy, an old traditional sweet formed in a long pipe and cut into slices. The stacks were sliced perpendicularly to form lab-grown beef slices, which allowed a great degree of customization within the complex meat structure.

Nature Communications: Engineered whole cut meat-like tissue by the assembly of cell fibers using tendon-gel integrated bioprinting
Abstract
With the current interest in cultured meat, mammalian cell-based meat has mostly been unstructured. There is thus still a high demand for artificial steak-like meat. We demonstrate in vitro construction of engineered steak-like tissue assembled of three types of bovine cell fibers (muscle, fat, and vessel). Because actual meat is an aligned assembly of the fibers connected to the tendon for the actions of contraction and relaxation, tendon-gel integrated bioprinting was developed to construct tendon-like gels. In this study, a total of 72 fibers comprising 42 muscles, 28 adipose tissues, and 2 blood capillaries were constructed by tendon-gel integrated bioprinting and manually assembled to fabricate steak-like meat with a diameter of 5 mm and a length of 10 mm inspired by a meat cut. The developed tendon-gel integrated bioprinting here could be a promising technology for the fabrication of the desired types of steak-like cultured meats.

It will be interesting to see if this applied research is successful in the market place.
Even if the method remains on the expensive side on Earth, it would seem likely to become the least expensive alternative ** away ** from Earth.
Plain algae may be less expensive, and there may well be plenty of humans away from Earth who subsist on it, but I'll bet that the possibility of high quality food will provide incentive for productive activity on the part of off-world workers.

Here is another Israeli firm MeaTech prints 3 oz steak, composed mostly of real cultivated fat and muscle cells
Israel-based MeaTech 3D has succeeded in bioprinting a 104-gram (3.67-oz.) cultivated steak, primarily composed of real cultivated fat and muscle cells. This is, according to the company, the largest cultivated steak comprised of real, living muscle and fat tissues, without using any soy or pea protein.
