On a two year mission to Mars, how many space suits will need to be brought? It the astronauts run out of suits, they are stuck in the hab and can't do any exploring, and they need to keep at least one suit in reserve so they can walk to the Earth Return Vehicle or asent stage to make it back to Earth.

That depends on entirely how sturdy, bulky, and heavy they are. If some sort of power-driven hard suit is practical, probably few or no spares. If they are mechanical counter-pressure suits (elastic or other fabric that compresses) you could carry several per crewman. The latter option is probably best, is one of the "little" development challenges that have to be done before we go to Mars.
One thing I think is pretty clear though, present day soft pressure suits are not going to cut it.

Here are a few references I found for work being done on the Mars suit, I'm not sure what else there is if anyone wants to fill this in.
