Re: So they spend twenty billion-billion to rapid terraform Mars

The Government has gone for the New Earth option. Instead of pouring billions into machines that will be making a one way trip to terraform, they went for the orbial dumping of critical elements. They deorbited both moons to activate volcanic activity, created a basic ecosystem with plants and life critical to a medieval lifestyle.

You have just landed (one of the ten million colonists) on Mars. There is a raw ecosystem made of a diverse selection of hardy (yet useful) Weed species such as Mimosa Pigra, Sugarcane, and a selection of water plants used to put oxygen back into the water, and assorted fungi.
Wild life is active in the waterways as fish, a few insects capable of surviving the higher radiation and CO2 rich atmosphere, and snails, No other species have survived the long journey.
The dominant thicketing plant species is critical in use as firewood (something the scientists see as furthering global warming and offering a source of renewable fuel).

What are your thoughts on a colony that tools up from a landing vehicle with a years supply of Rations?

Re: So they spend twenty billion-billion to rapid terraform Mars

$ 20,000,000,000,000,000,000      =      20 Million Trillion Dollars ?
Borrow it from the Chinese govenment ?

The effort to make Mars a greenhouse, swamps of Florida, wiithout a roof ?
Add more mass to Mars, solar reflectors etc.

The sky is the limit, may be impossible in this century, at any cost.

Roof and insulate well, that we may be able to afford.

The technology needed is self replicating robots.
Lot of solar cell generated power to build comfortable accommodations for the settlers.

Safety first, using the best technology will prove quickest.
