Sorry if this has been discussed already; I thought it would have but my forum search didn't turn up anything.

Has anyone looked at the Launch Loop proposal?  It seems feasible to me, but some parts are outside my area of expertise.  I remember the Japanese researching similar techniques to design ultra-high buildings, though I don't think they were ever used.  I'm curious as to what the other engineers here think.  GCNRevenger, RobertDyck, John Creighton, ...?
