Re: Making things invisible!

Making things invisible or a cloaking device. I Captain. They still have a way to go to make something completely invisible, but they have made great strides in that direction.

Larry,

I already looked at it. You need to look through a beam splitter to make it look as things are invisible. Some applications include telleprojection and increasing the field of view of a pilot.

Re: Making things invisible!

I already know about the telleprojection system. It done by a projection what behind it so you see it instead of the object that projecting it and then blends in with the back ground until it look invisible. This other invisibility is based around not even the light that hit object bounce back at you. It a slightly different strategy to obtaining invisibility or appear to obtaining invisibility. This is the first time that I have heard this type of invisibility being tried and thought it was interesting.

Larry,

Oh okay this is something different. Sounds neat. I thought if something didn't reflect or scatter light it would look black. Then again maybe not. hmmmm

Re: Making things invisible!

Do you know what pointillism is? It is a painting technique where you paint a picture by a bunch of little dots. If you stand far enough away the colours mix together in your eye and you don't see the little points. I am wondering if the two technologies could be combined. The clocking device you described would absorb all light except pinholes where the light comes in and hits a beam splitter. The beam splitter is used to send some of the light to a crammer and used to project the light from a projector back through the hole. This way all of the electronics used for cameras and projectors could be hidden and the background the light that comes out of would be completely black so you would only see the project light.
