*New article from space.com.  Compares Aurora Australis and Aurora Borealis.  The large photo was obtained via space shuttle Discovery in 1991.  To the right are simultaneous observations from 23 October 02 of both poles' auroras behaving differently. 

The study was obtained via satellite- and ground-based observations.

They note that one similarity of behavior is that both auroras lean toward the dawn side of Earth.  Scientists are speculating this "leaning" might be due to "imperfections" of Earth's magnetic field.
