Kind of scary, if it is what it looks like. Imagine what terrible weapons could be constructed in far away future (if humanity is able to produce enough energy). It could be real destroyer of worlds.
Maybe nobody should think that it could be never done, lots of things have been done. I'm not negative by character, I respect scientists doing their work.. its just human nature I'm scared of.

The question is really how big a black hole would need to be created before it could eat the earth. Perhaps the energy and mass required are beyond anything we have to worry about in the near future. Maybe it might even be possible to drop little back wholes into the sun to keep it burning after it burns out. The ability to control back holes and convert energy to matter much more efficiently then the sun will be essential to are survival. It will mean we will be able to create massive amounts of energy without burning the precious water in the aorta cloud. The ability to create energy so easy will allow us to thrive in our journey to other stars.

*"Amen" to that. :-\
Very cool article.
It was generated at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in New York, US, which smashes beams of gold nuclei together at near light speeds.
What's the purpose of smashing beams of gold nuceli together in the first place? Just curious.
These form a ball of plasma about 300 times hotter than the surface of the Sun.
Yipes.
This fireball, which lasts just 10 million, billion, billionths of a second, can be detected
Zoinks. Amazing that anything that short-lived could be detected.
because it absorbs jets of particles produced by the beam collisions...But...there is something unusual about it.
Ten times as many jets were being absorbed by the fireball as were predicted by calculations.
The Brown researcher thinks the particles are disappearing into the fireball's core and reappearing as thermal radiation, just as matter is thought to fall into a black hole and come out as "Hawking" radiation.
Hmmmmm. Thanks for posting this.

Interesting concept for a space based weapon or for that fact a ship to ship defense combat tool.
Fire phasers..

It really is just a generalization of a particle beam. If instead of colliding head on the ions collided at a 45 degree angle then they black hole would have some momentum. If it had enough momentum it would stay a black hole longer due to time dilation. Perhaps long enough to penetrate the hull of a ship or explode some of the matter on the surface of a white dwarf.

How about using a human made black hole to move planets, moons and other worlds?
Get it just close enough to the world in question, and let it drag that would to where you want it.

Given that the black holes are small they would not have any signifiganct gravitational pull on anything especially a planet. If the black whole was big enough to have a significant pull on the planet then it would probably be harder to move the black whole then the planet. I suggest some kind of pulsed engine. The gold ions are fired at each other at a 45 degree angle with enough velocity so the resulting black whole is moving at relativistic velocity. Say (1-10^-33) c though some reaction mass to help sustain the black whole until it exits the reaction chamber.

Please, don't reinforce the opinion that American fellows are weaponmaniacs !

By the way I am American and my last name is french but all that aside. Any item of peace can be turn into one of war it only takes imagination. I have no intent to further weapons of the sort. Thought that it sounded more like a star trek item.

I know, the Hutus turned machettas into more efficient Weapons of Mass Destruction than Saddam's ones.
About star trek, I thought that turning energy into mass by creating short lived black holes would be the first step to bring warp drive to reality...

Considering a trifold attractor prevents the jump to hyperspace {G^3, G^5, G^7, G^11,...}, they were damn lucky they didn't anchor their mini black hole to our space time existance. We would be experiencing odd spacetime phenomena like being pushed back through time, over and over.
Ps. Gravity is a dimension.
e=dv^(di).j{dt}^(g^(n))

Are you making this up? Where do you get this from?????

You really need to study more.
Of course it helps if you have an IQ of 210 and a very logical mind.
ps. field frequency t:
e(x)=dv(x)^(m mod t xor m(max) mod t).j{t^(m-1)+{t^(m)}}^(g^(n))
e(y)=dv(y)^(m mod t xor m(max) mod t).j{t^(m-1)+{t^(m)}}^(g^(n))
e(z)=dv(z)^(m mod t xor m(max) mod t).j{t^(m-1)+{t^(m)}}^(g^(n))
