Re: Making gigantic space telescope with water. - Ice lens

Just an idea but wouldn't it be simple to launch a gigantic mould into space, then send up very pure distilled water to fill that mould.
You could create an enormous telescope lens as large as the mould you could transport into space.

As soon as the mould is finished setting the ice all you would need do is keep it cool with shade.

The extremely pure distilled water would be as clear or more clear than any man made glass, and would have the ability to be reformed if needed simply by pointing the mould towards the heat of the sun.

Not beyond the realms of current tech to see a 1 km wide lens with this idea.

The universe isn't being pushed apart faster.
It is being pulled faster towards the clumpy edge.
