simple (well...) , but effective. Would be great to have as a precursor mission, today: scout the future landingplace etc...

Wasn't that the one in the urban myth? You know, the one controlled by a KGB dwarf who went to the Moon one-way, in secret, inside the Lunokhod - a suicide mission for the greater glory of mother Russia?

Heh those two rovers where an incredible feat, one of them travelled over 300km over the lunar surface before the power died. Probably the dwarf got so tired peddling for that distance its not a surprise.

Hmmm.
    I don't know about Willy Wonka's factory being on the Moon. That so-called 'rabbit' seen on Mars looked a lot like a Wonka Bar wrapper to me!

This is going to be a bit OT...

Does anyone remember a site that gave access to large quantities of images from various Lunar missions (including the Lunokhods)?  It included the Zonds, Lunas, Lunar Orbiters, and the Surveyors - and not just select images.

I used to have a link to it, lost it, and have never been able to find it again.  If anyone has any idea what I'm referring to I would be much obliged!
