Twelve scientists will start using it tonight, to begin mapping.
They're expecting findings of "thousands of new pulsars, supernovas, black holes and planets."
Says the upgrade is akin to having 7 Arecibo observatories in use at the same time. "You can see seven different parts of the galaxy simultaneously. The mapping will be seven times faster."
Info collected will be available on worldwide database scientists can access on the 'net.
