Re: Asteroid Fly-By Today! - (1999 MN)

*Courtesy the good folks at spaceweather.com:

"ASTEROID FLYBY: Asteroid 1999 MN, a little wider than a football field, is passing through Earth's neighborhood today. At closest approach, it will be 8 lunar distances from our planet; there's no danger of a collision. 1999 MN has a curious orbit that carries it even closer to the sun than Mercury."

There's a link pertaining to its "curious orbit" at spaceweather.com, but clicking on it results in an error page (?) of sorts.  Too bad, I wanted to read about it.  sad

Even 8 lunar distances is close enough to remind me how vulnerable we are and to make me feel nervous!

The word 'aerobics' came about when the gym instructors got together and said: If we're going to charge $10 an hour, we can't call it Jumping Up and Down.   - Rita Rudner

Make you want to develope either fission of fusion drive space ships to we could go out there and intercept those astroids before they get too close to the earth.
