Re: Apropos of Nothing 2 - Run of the mill randomness!

seeing Clark's song, what songs will they sing on Mars?

'Pump up the volume - Mars'
'Mars River'
'fly me to the Mars'
'man on the Mars'
'lady on Red'
'Country Rover'

anyone else got anymore cheesy Mars song titles?

Re: Apropos of Nothing 2 - Run of the mill randomness!

*I really do not understand vampires.  sad  In _Interview with the Vampire_, Louis doesn't want to live after the death of his wife and child.  Then he allows Lestat to turn him into an immortal Undead (vampire).  Now he's going to live...forever.

Okay, so now I'm watching my beloved "Dark Shadows" (original 1966 - 1971 TV series).  Barnabas Collins tried to turn Maggie Evans into "Josette" (his long lost obsession [130 years ago] and former sister-in-law, who threw herself from a cliff to escape him turning HER into a vampire)...and now Barnabas wants to turn Vicky into "Josette" (so they can live forever, "happily").  But as Barnabas pursues Vicky, he's allowing Dr. Julia Hoffmann to "cure" him of his vampirism.

Well...there goes the "happily EVER after" thing...

Sheesh.  :-\

Is being undead, living?

You know, I read the entire Ann Rice series about Vampires. I really couldn't tell she used to write harlequin novels. No, really.

I'm off to learn about the stars. tra-la-le-la-le-la...

I'll say hi to the Man on the Moon,
He is impatient, I must get there soon,
If not, fear not, for He will not see,
For the Man sleeps soundly on Tranquility,
where flags of rags of red, white, and blue
fly true, it's true, believe me you!

*This morning, while preparing breakfast, I accidentally spilled half a pan of hot boiling water on my left hand.

Yeah, that felt good...mmmmm-hmmmm.  sad  Nice way to REALLY "wake up."  :-\

No first-degree burns, though.  Maybe all this "hanging around" Mars and the rest of the Solar System is making my skin mutate abit!  tongue

Re: Apropos of Nothing 2 - Run of the mill randomness!

Cindy: Be more careful. I'm sure I voice the feelings of all of us, who depend on your posts for our pleasure and intellectual stimulation. When I was young, applying mineral oil was the "thing to do" for such burns. During the WWII many a disfigurement was caused by that, and tannic acid too, I seem to remember. Now, the "thing to do" is rush to a source of cold water, and flood the burned area. What did you do to prevent first-degree burn (requiring a skin-graft)? Please advise, as I/we can encounter burns at any time.

*Hi dicktice:  I actually didn't do anything to "treat" the skin on my hand.  I guess flicking my hand away immediately after the spill and wiping the hand against my clothing was enough, thank goodness.  I expected blistering and redness to swiftly develop, but nope.  Must have good skin, I guess.  And quite a long work week ahead yet (typing), so I'm doubly grateful.

There's just a very faint sensation of a burn on the back of my hand, and it looks faintly flushed (pinker) than my right hand.  That's it.

Re: Apropos of Nothing 2 - Run of the mill randomness!

*Did anyone else catch the TV Land weekend marathon of "The Addams Family"?  I basically "vegged out" on the sofa a few hours on Sunday, watching it.  Was just a tot when the series ended, and this was my first opportunity to watch multiple episodes.

Lurch plays the harpsichord.

One of the episodes revolved around Mars.  I'm like -- whoa, harpsichords and Mars??  Sounds like my gig.

If you say so.

Rather odd to assume that a direct quote from Gone With the Wind (which I happen to own by the way, great movie) was being applied to your previous post. I say it's odd since you have no idea what the context is by which I make the remark (this is a thread about absolutely nothing).

Still, I can't say I'm surprised.

Unless of course you somehow think that you're a Scarlet O'Hare, and I your Rhett.

*Likewise.  smile  Did you make an odd assumption regarding anything I said in my post previous to this one?  Assumptions, Clark...tsk, tsk (that is, -if- you made an assumption somewhere...)   After all, as you so adroitly point out, this IS a thread "about absolutely nothing."

Still, I can't say I'm surprised.

*Me neither.  Ironic, huh?

Unless of course you somehow think that you're a Scarlet O'Hare, and I your Rhett.

*No offense, but...highly doubtful.  smile

*Indeed.  And the mirror has two faces.
