Re: Hello from a new member

Greetings all, just wanted to say hello. I am a long time lurker and decided that I would like to start contributing to your fine forums. I have a graduate degree in Chemistry, but If I had to do it all over I would want to build spacecraft. I am a huge fan of all things Sagan, as well as Mars. I look forward to interacting with you all soon!

Re: Hello from a new member

It's the one place in our solar system that could conceivably be visited by humans in our lifetime. I feel that it is our destiny to eventually explore other planets, I just hope they get to it while I am around.

Also, less scientifically, but nonetheless fascinating, I was a big fan of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles. Those books struck my imagination and made me want to learn more about the real Mars.

You can't go wrong with Bradbury by your side.  big_smile

Re: Hello from a new member

Hello MadCap, I too am a brand new member. I joined in to get a better idea of what the hold up and gotchas are to getting the human race on Mars.

I like to think maybe I have a clever idea or two on the Mars challenge? Thought it might be interesting to view, discuss etc all of the possibilities, so far it's been very interesting and insightful.

Welcome aboard, look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,

PLIND

Re: Hello from a new member

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. I am enjoying reading all of your posts, and am pleased to say that I have learned tons of stuff about this subject in my short time among you. I only hope I can contribute in some small way to the advance of our knowledge on this subject. After all, isn't that the job of science? To stand on the previous person's shoulders, thus increasing our overall knowledge base?
