MARS SOCIETY ANNOUNCEMENT

AI for Mars & Earth: Dex Hunter-Torricke Joins 2025 Mars Society Convention

Dex Hunter-Torricke will be a featured plenary speaker at the 28th Annual International Mars Society Convention, taking place October 9-11, 2025, at USC in Los Angeles.

A veteran strategist and communicator at the highest levels of tech and global leadership, Dex has spent the past two decades shaping the public messaging of major figures and companies at the forefront of innovation. He previously served as Head of Communications at SpaceX, where he worked directly with Elon Musk on messaging around Mars colonization and interplanetary travel. Before that, he led executive communications for Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook, was Google’s first executive speechwriter, and began his career as speechwriter and spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Dex is also a New York Times-bestselling ghostwriter, a visiting research fellow at the University of Cambridge ThinkLab, and a frequent global speaker on the future of technology and society.

His plenary talk, “AI & the Future of Humanity: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges on the Path to Mars,” will explore the emerging role of artificial intelligence as a critical enabler for long-term human settlement on Mars. From autonomous systems and machine learning-driven habitat construction to ethical considerations and terrestrial benefits, Dex will examine how the intersection of AI and space exploration could reshape the future of both Earth and Mars.

Dex will join a distinguished lineup of scientists, engineers, aerospace executives, policymakers, journalists, and space advocates for an international three-day event packed with insightful presentations, panel discussions and debates about a wide variety of topics related to Mars and space exploration.

Join us for this dynamic and thought-provoking session—one of many highlights at this year’s Mars Society convention. For registration and volunteering details, please visit marssociety.org.

Sign up here: https://bit.ly/42qHk2q.

You are invited to attend a virtual NASA Budget Update Briefing with the Planetary Society's Casey Dreier and colleagues this Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 4:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM PT. The session will provide the latest updates on NASA’s budget and the congressional process, explore possible funding scenarios in the weeks ahead, and include a Q&A. The webinar will be recorded and posted on The Planetary Society’s YouTube channel shortly after. Register today at: https://bit.ly/3K2Hnex.
