kbd512 prepared this report after the Google Meeting of 2025/09/07.
The report includes details about advanced shape design for aircraft engine components.
The question arose in the context of materials able to survive re-entry from space.
Ablative materials are proven as capable of providing a safe return from the Moon or other Solar System locations.
A re-usable space vehicle would cost less to operate if non-ablative materials could be found able to survive the conditions experienced by objects entering the atmosphere at orbital velocities or greater.
The post linked by this bookmark offers information about Carbon based materials that might qualify for service in such applications.

This bookmark points to a post by RGClark about a proposal to combine existing systems to land on the Moon before the Chinese:
https://newmars.com/forums/viewtopic.ph … 11#p234211
The proposal reported by RGClark would use a Super Heavy booster as the first stage, a Blue Origin component for moon landing, and the Orion capsule for return. I would note that the existing Orion capsule has the suspect heat shield that does NOT use Apollo proven heat shield technology.
