This topic was created to note the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions... Tomorrow (2025/07/20) is the 56th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. There aren't too many persons who mark the occasion. For those who do, thanks for keeping the flame alive.

Today is the 56th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing!
The Space Show with Dr. David Livingston introduced a ceremony to commemorate this day.
The ceremony includes readings designed to give each participant a sense of the importance of human venture away from Earth, in the context of the sweep of history.

There's a good reason I'd not heard of it before... it was established in 2021....

International Moon Day is being observed today to commemorate the historic Apollo 11 mission, when humans first set foot on the Moon on July 20th in 1969. The United Nations General Assembly officially recognised this observance in 2021, following a recommendation by the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
