nice and educational project for on those long wintery nights.

The pdf is 2.9Mb, contains detailed step-by-step building info and a lot of explanation about the vehicle itself, so it's quite educationally-correct   

I don't have kids, but maybe an idea for some of the people here that have children with an interest in Mars-stuff etc...

I have 'kids' but I've never been able to interest them in space exploration at all.

That's really unfortunate Shaun.

Kids are really easy to impress. I'd think that just knowing that you like space, etc, would compell them to be interested to some extent.

If I had kids, this'd definitely be hangin' in their room.

Shaun:  I hear you...although from the perspective of having been a child, and not as a parent.  Neither of my parents have been interested in astronomy, space exploration, etc.  I don't know where my interest "came from" -- it just naturally developed somehow.  The most my folks did to encourage me was to listen politely (and with a bit of genuine interest) when I would point out bright stars by name, point out the Big Dipper for them, etc.  They also bought me a few books and magazine subscriptions as a kid.  I'm glad they went to that extent for me, but they were not greatly supportive or encouraging. 

I'd love to build a model like this with a child of my own, or even a niece/nephew (my nephew isn't interested).  Thing is, interests certainly don't always "rub off" (even if one takes the careful, nurturing approach).
