Still being stuck in permits, and trying to get temporary power. Still no roof yet as contractor has to do other work before mine and due to permits.
Had to move temp service 3 times and still Eversource has not put power to it yet. It's only money, $1,400 so far and more to get permanent power later.

Stumbling block for work progressing has been the near death happening for the contractors wife. Until he can return or turn over work to another I am at a stand still.
Have a line of a camper trailer that could be brought to the property so as to lower monthly costs such as to get funds for others to do the work that is still required before winter.

Thanks for the link to the article about the release of islands in the Indian Ocean by Britain, except for the San Diego air base.
The history of the expansion of European powers over the past 500 years includes this set of islands. I appreciate your finding this article, because it helps to fill in a bit of that history. A detail that I caught was that the islands were (apparently) originally found and claimed by France. Portugal, Spain, France and England were major players in those early times, while Germany and the Netherlands contributed to the process. I asked Google for a list of the European powers that were active, and it came up with Russia, Denmark and Sweden, in addition the the nations I remembered. An additional request of Google came up with Italy, which I associate with Ethiopia.
Thanks too, for your hint that temperature of the propellants mixing in a rocket engine may be a factor in POGO. Your example of pipelines responding to changes in seasonal temperature is new to me (and perhaps others). I've seen hoops of pipe sticking up from long pipelines, and presume those must be assisting with expansion and contraction, as well as being useful for access to pipelines for maintenance.
A rocket engine is an interesting case, for sure! Propellant has to change from low Kelvin numbers in the tanks to very high Kelvin numbers in a distance of less than a meter. GW Johnson wrote about vortexes forming inside the chamber as the propellants are mixed together while simultaneously combining chemically.
Finally, thanks for the update on the home remodeling project. A camper might be a lot more comfortable than the car. Please keep us posted about that.
Sorry to hear of the health worries of the family you'd engaged to help with the roof.
It would be good to have that tarp cover replaced with metal before hurricane season.

GW Johnson has been reporting for some time that the SpaceX engine tests at the nearby McGregor test range shake the windows in his house at what GW estimates to be about 10 Hertz.
I was inspired by your post to see what the wavelength is for the sound waves reaching GW's house.
Google came back with 34 meters.
In other words, the combustion vortexes that exist within the combustion chamber of the Raptor engines are pulsating at 10 hertz, and that pulsation travels several miles at the speed of sound, with wave crests arriving at the rate of 10 per second.
Obviously (as GW has written) this has nothing to do with the kind of sound we associate with an organ pipe. According to Google, there was actually built a monster pipe organ with a 64 foot 10 hertz pipe.
Here is the report:
Substitute the given values for speed and frequency. \(\lambda =\frac{343}{10}\) Step 4 . Calculate the wavelength. \(\lambda =34.3\) Solution The distance between crests of the sound wave is \(34.3\) meters.
