The software we are running to provided forum services is FluxBB...
FluxBB is an orphan these days.... Our Webmaster has a copy, and the current activity is to convert the software to run on modern support software.
Support software includes:
1) PHP
2) MySQL
3) Apache
I am confident that during 2024, our Admin team, lead by Webmaster kbd512, will be able to harness FluxBB to run on current software.
This provides an opportunity to (carefully) make adjustments to the package.
The first "bug" that I found is that when an Admin splits a topic, the words in the title of the topic are NOT added to the table of words that is used to support the Search function.
In the next post, I'll offer another suggestion for an update that might be considered for the forum.

This topic is offered for members who would like to suggested changes that might be considered for the forum software.
An obvious request that someone might make is to find and fix the Apache Internal Server Error.
This is a very difficult problem to solve, but having the entire source code under our management should enable our Webmaster to isolate the problem, and either solve it or help our members to deal with it.

Bingo! We have a request for an enhancement to the forum software....
This comes from our contact in Phoenix, Arizona. Long time forum readers may remember that Arizona was facing severe drought conditions last year, and there was even talk of trying to import fresh water from other places. Rains have fallen since then, political fortunes have changed, and everyone has forgotten about water (or almost everyone). Our contact in Arizona has not, but the topic is definitely out of public view.
The current search tool works ** very ** well for experienced forum members. It is build upon an index of words that are entered by members int topic titles, into post titles, and into the bodies of posts. However, when a person not familiar with the forum tries to search for a word or a combination of words, the default conditions may lead to failure of the search, and disappointment.
We (er, the Webmaster) may be able to inprove the search tool. One option (apparently) is to enlist Google (somehow) to perform the search.
In any case, we now have an additional item for our wishlist.

We are in the final phase of upgrading our FluxBB package from 1.5.11 to 1.5.12.
We already have a couple of wishlist items...
Today I'd like to add another:
When we click the Active button we get a list based up a fixed number of hours, which may be 24.
I'd like the Active button to have an option the member can change in the Profile.
I often want to re-read a post by a member that is more than 24 hours old. The ability to set the Active button to look further back will help to save time.
