2024/10/26 update....
There is a (potential) competition between the SpinLaunch folks and the hydrogen gas gun proponents (such as Dr. John Hunter).
A distinct advantage of the hydrogen gas gun concept is the lack of horizontal G force.
A solid fuel rocket to deliver the horizontal impulse needed to achieve orbit is easier to design because such rockets have been in use for many years.

Recently I (think I) saw a report on successive pulses of gas being pumped into a launch tube. I'd like to see a CFD analysis of the concept.
