I commited all of this to memory long ago, but I think they might have changed a bit as time went on (for the Scouts). Anyone else learn these?

Did you know that after a certain age, your brain changes, and it is actually harder to learn another language?

Studies have shown that people who learn languages at an earler age use different areas of the brain than those that learn at later stages. It's all part of the cognitive development we experience as we mature.

In fact, a newborn baby will actually experience a decrease in certain abilities (such as hearing, perception, etc.) as they develop. Part of this is related to the continued formation of neurons that occur after birth, and mostly it is poorly understood (remember, Psychology has only been around for a hundred years or so)

And to any with newborns, babies can recogine changes in contrast better than they can recognize shapes or colors. The world is a bit fuzzy for the begining months (if I recall, it takes 6-9 months for facial recognition to fully develop).

No point to all of this, which is exactly the point of this.

o Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
o The public has a right to know about Hillary?s cattle trades, but George Bush?s driving record is none of our business.
o You support states? rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.
o What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the ?80s is irrelevant.
o Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

Bill White: That's a devastating list of hypocracies. How in the world do they get away with it? How can they possibly be re-elected? Are things so bad that no one would want to take over from them?

Cindy: Thanks for the recipe, but how do you remove the shell smoothly every time (for 20 or more eggs). I tried to reply, but didn't succeed. I'm an e-mail klutz, I admit.

A confidential investigation by Los Angeles police and child welfare officials concluded earlier this year that allegations Michael Jackson sexually abused a cancer-stricken boy were "unfounded," according to an internal government memo obtained by The Smoking Gun.

What's that, an unfounded allegation? No evidence? Spurious claims and accusations by a seemingly upstanding citizen towards another whose behavior can be misinterpreted?

If I was naive, I might be surprised. But we all lose are innocence at some point.

I give you "Killographic". :laugh:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- A public interest group had a holiday warning and a new word Monday for parents of video game users: Beware of "killographic," defined as the "graphic depiction of brutal violence."
The National Institute on Media and the Family, an independent, nonprofit group, said "killographic" scenes are featured in a number of video games within reach of children.
Issuing its eighth annual MediaWise Video Game Report Card, the institute listed games parents should avoid for their children, led by "Manhunt."
"If pornographic is the 'graphic depiction of sex,' then killographic should enter our vocabulary to describe the 'graphic depiction of brutal violence,"' David Walsh, the institute's president, told a Capitol Hill news conference.
"Clever phrase," Doug Lowenstein, head of the Entertainment Software Association, which represents computer and video game software publishers, replied when asked about "killographic."
Lowenstein noted that the average age of those who play video games is 28, and said as adults they should be allowed to pick their entertainment.
He also pointed out that the industry rates its games on age appropriateness, and that Walsh's institute found most parents are not aware of a game's content. "The message is that parents in many cases aren't doing their job," Lowenstein said.
