The weekly Google Meeting is coming up at Midnight UTC on Sunday.
Last week's meeting ran longer than the default time for Google, so we picked up on Zoom.
The Zoom service is still available and it seems to work well.
In both cases, the links to the waiting rooms are at the top of the respective topics - Search for Collaboration in the title.

The Google Meeting setup is coming along nicely. The waiting room should be open at midnight UTC.
The Zoom backup is checked out and ready as well.
I'll have the waiting room at Google set up shortly.

For SpaceNut re Google Meeting...
This evening turned out well from my perspective...
GW and kbd512 stopped by. Kbd512 and I discussed the outlook for upgrade to the new forum version 1.5.12. There's a lot that kbd512 has to deal with, but I got the impression he'll be able to spend a bit of time on the project next week. The immediate need is to re-establish communication with Mr. Burk, who's been working on Mars Society projects. We (NewMars) are probably pretty far down the ;priority list, but I hope we can win a few minutes of his time.
GW updated us on his contact with a company that expressed interest in his work with ram jets. They have sent him a Non Disclosure Agreement which is the first step in the process to become a consultant.
We opened up a share in Google Meeting, and we looked at the company web site. You can do the same: https://www.ursamajor.com/
If you call up the location of the company on Google Map, you can look around at the horizon of the company location out in the desert.
The company is north of Denver which is north of Colorado Springs.
We spent some time looking around with Google Map.
Then we decided to follow the SpaceX Flight 4, and GW commented upon various stages in the flight.
We had the Zoom set up in case the meeting ran long but on this occasion we didn't need it.

The weekly Google meeting is scheduled for around this time on Sunday.
If all goes to plan, the waiting room will open at Midnight UTC (7 PM Houston, 8 PM New Hampshire)
GW Johnson has encountered some challenging automotive issues.
The SSTO topics started by RGClark have been hopping recently.

If we have time in today's Google Meeting, I'd like to suggest we look at the link that Mars_B4_Moon posted in the Jupiter topic.

The system used for Google Meetings is ready to go at Midnight UTC.
If there is anyone interested in participating, the link is available in the first post of this topic.
I'll open the waiting room at Midnight UTC.
The meeting room is open.
Post meeting report ...
This meeting went long... we were not cut off because only two participants were logged in.
Topics ranged over a wide range and went into some depth in several areas.
kbd512 is able to direct computer lookups efficiently, so the resources of the Internet are deployed rapidly, and the Google Meet screen sharing feature allows all participants to follow the discussion and to ask questions or make suggestions.

We are planning a Google Meeting for Sunday 2024/06/23 at Midnight UTC.
The waiting room will be opened shortly before midnight UTC, if all goes well.
Everyone is reminded that this topic is available for communication before and during the meeting.
There are three items on the agenda, and others may be added by members attending:
1) kbd512: Activation of FluxBB 1.5.12 on Dreamhost servers
2) GW Johnson Orbital Mechanics course on Mars Technical Institute
3) Mars Business Calendar as a Mars Society profit center
Reminder: The meeting may run long. We have the NewMars Zoom account still active as a backup.
If we do decide to extend the meeting, the link to the NewMars Nightowl Waiting Room is available at the top of the Zoom topic.

There was some Internet congestion but it appears to have cleared up.

For SpaceNut re #139
Thanks for re-establishing your Google account, and joining the meeting! It was an interesting and productive hour, even though Mr. Burk was unable to attend.
GW Johnson and kbd512 attended, and we reviewed the SpinLaunch video that a NewMars member found and posted. Since GW has experience designing solid rocket motors able to survive many thousands of G''s, his experience might be applicable to the SpinLaunch concept.
We stopped the video at the point where the projectile is shown in the grip of the swing arm, to confirm that the solid propellant grain is going to be thrown to the outside of the rocket casing. According to GW the rocket fuel will flow like a liquid at those G forces. The rocket casing must therefore be designed so that the channel for gas flow is on the inside of the projectile.
Other topics discussed included solar panels for home use. kbd512 already has a home roof installation, and GW is about to have one installed.
We'll have to reschedule the FluxBB meeting.
Thanks to everyone who attended!

This is for all Admins ...
Mr. Burk sent an email requesting that we make an appointment with him for the next meeting attempt.
He asked for something that he can add to his calendar. It appears that my attempt by email was not the best way to set up the meeting.
If anyone in the Admin team understands the request, please help.
We want the meeting to be at the usual time next Sunday evening.

For all Admins ahead of Sunday's planned NewMars Google meeting....
I wrote to Mr. Burk with copies to all Admins, inviting him again to attend our upcoming meeting.
I do not understand how to add an item to his calendar, and no one has written to explain the process. My guess is that it is extremely simple, but I do not have experience with the process, and have chosen to stay with simple email.
The hardware and Internet configuration I've been using for years is temporarily unavailable, so I'm attempting to get by with a little laptop designed for educational use. It seemed to set up the Google meeting correctly when I tested it today, so I'm guardedly optimistic that I'll be able to host the meeting as usual.
As a reminder to everyone, we have the NewMars Zoom account available as a backup in case the Google meeting runs long.

If anyone would care to help me exercise the new (hopefully temporary) Google meeting setup, I'd appreciate the assistance.
A good time for a test (from my perspective) would be Sunday afternoon, at a time that works for both of us.

Today's Google Meeting remains on schedule.
I'm planning to set up early, because I am working with a temporary hardware configuration, in a new Internet environment.
I won't be doing any screen sharing this evening. My role will be to admit members and guests to the meeting.
We've invited Mr. Burk once again, and I hope his schedule will be open for us. The time of the meeting is probably not ideal for Mr. Burk, because I ** think ** the time may be 6 PM out in Washington. On the other hand, it would be a stretch for one of our European members to connect.
