The Chandrayaan3 spacecraft successfully underwent a planned orbit reduction maneuver. The retrofiring of engines brought it closer to the Moon's surface, now to 174 km x 1437 km.

Today’s successful firing, needed for a short duration, has put Chandrayaan-3 into an orbit of 153 km x 163 km, as intended.

Ahead of the scheduled landing of the Chandrayaan-3 Lander on the moon surface on August 23, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday released images of the far side of the lunar surface
“Here are the images of Lunar far side area captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC). This camera that assists in locating a safe landing area — without boulders or deep trenches — during the descent is developed by ISRO at SAC,” ISRO posted on social media platform X.
This will be their third satellite, the first Chandrayaan-1 studied the Moon for a while but was lost after difficulties.

A member of the science advisory board of Chandrayaan-1 said that it is difficult to ascertain reasons for the loss of contact. ISRO said that due to very high radiation, power-supply units controlling both the computer systems on board failed, snapping the communication connectivity. However other info released said that the power supply supplied by MDI failed due to overheating.

I still do not know much about this current ISRO mission, some online talks suggests the Vikram style lander and Pragyan-2 ?? or Pragyan-III ? Rover will have a few Earth length days of sunlight on the Moon for experiments but then temperatures will drop during the long Lunar Night. The Russians expected to land before India but it has not landed robots successfully since the days of the old Soviet Union. Nuclear power is the fifth-largest source of electricity in India but I do not believe it is flying nuclear power in space. India says Two-way communication between the two the Orbiting Satellite and Lander-Platform is established, if they achieve this Lander feat ISRO will have shown capability which Russia is no longer able to do. I will assume for now the Indian Satellite and Lander are both powered by the solar panels mounted on the sides.

Chandrayaan-3 seems to be an improvement based on the previous missions which suffered a last second glitch, this current mission is already more successful, it seems confirmed from a number of India news media reports they expect the mission to have landed successfully by 23rd day of August 2023.

"Rover ramped down the lander and India took a walk on the moon!" the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday.
The six-wheeled, solar-powered rover will amble around the relatively unmapped region and transmit images and scientific data over its two-week lifespan.
The successful touchdown of the Chandrayaan-3 ("Mooncraft-3") mission came just days after a Russian lander crashed in the same region.

I saw a news video yesterday or over the weekend, in which Prime Minister Modi announced that India will not join an existing space station consortium, but will instead build it's own space station.
If anyone in the active membership finds further detail about this, please add it to this topic.
This is a bid to achieve superpower status, and I think that the ambition just might be achievable.
