In early 2024, NewMars members have an opportunity to see what a high level of support Mars Society has been providing to the members of this forum.
We are running test sites on Azure, in a subsidized test account, courtesy of Microsoft.
We are using the absolute minimal level of service, which includes just 1 Gb of RAM for MySQL and PHP to run. It should not be surprising that response is slow in that environment, and MySQL frequently runs out of RAM, because it appears to need 500 Mb just to perform the simplest operation.
This topic is available for members who might wish to express appreciation to Mars Society (and specifically Executive Director James Burk) for providing support for this forum for the past many years,

I second the appreciation of Mars society and for all the past webmasters that have come before James as they carried that sword from the past towards the present.
