Four emails were sent today and four arrived.

This happened with a long break between two sets of two.

I'm not sure what to make of that.

It is possible to increase the pause between sends.

The upper limit is the time out setting for NewMars logins ... I don't know what that setting is, but it is not TOO long, because I often hit it while distracted with a post intended but not submitted.

The limit might be as much as 30 minutes, but that's just a guess.

I might try a ten minute pause tomorrow, just to see if that makes a difference.

A complication has shown up. The email provider I use apparently has a feature that looks for bulk email, and it has flagged the test messages from NewMarsMember as bulk. It is possible that some of the non-delivered messages were blocked by that algorithm.

Today's test will run for 10 sends, but the time separation will be increased from five minutes to ten minutes.

Update ... the first two sends completed, but a halt occurred. I'll restart with new goal of 8.

That run also failed after two sends. The time pause of 10 minutes is too long for FluxBB, apparently.

I completed the last 6 sends with the previously successful interval of five minutes.

All 10 emails arrived today. Four were sent with 10 minute delay, and 6 were sent with five minute delay. All arrived.

Tomorrow I'm planning to try 8 minute delay. 10 minutes is too long.

Today's test run set the pause interval at 8 minutes, and it completed without incident.

I'll report on results a bit later today.

All ten emails arrived today. I'll restart the Email Outreach. If someone at Dreamhost made a change, thank you!

I'll stay with the 8 minute wait between sends.

Today's run is a test, but it is with only four sends, and Steve Stewart is the selected volunteer to receive the message.

I'm looking for feedback that the email service is working well enough to resume the Email Outreach campaign.

The program hit a snag on the third send, after waiting eight minutes. The account was still logged in.

I'll settle for two sends today, and try four again tomorrow.

I'll take a chance and resume the Email Outreach campaign tomorrow. It has been on hiatus since the web site outage in July.

The last send before the web site outage was sent July 11, 2023. Two attempts were made in August.

The topic lasted only 6 posts, but it was friendly and supportive.

The educational institution still exists ... Virginia's Community Colleges .... However, the subdomain is not recognized, which is not surprising after 20+ years.

This is someone it would have been fun to try to reach, but it does not appear to be possible.

On the other hand, if a member of the forum would care to contact Virginia's Community Colleges, they may have records of students, and they might be willing to forward an inquiry.

I tried "Whois" and got a message that the site would not allow a description.

The company registered is DigitalOcean, and the location is given as NewYork.

OK ... I'll assume the email address is still working after nearly 20 years.

It's been a while since we've looked at one of our candidates ....

I've been trying to convert the email send program to run on Windows 10. The transition to Windows 10 seems to be working, but the hardware environment is surprisingly challenging. I'm having to verify that requested system actions have completed. I attribute this to the under powered CPU of the Windows system, combined with the many layers of software that are now present. Windows XP is tight and clean in comparison.

Today's run will be back on the XP ...
