Thank you for your comments in this post, and specifically for your mention of underground living.
The link below shows an old American missile silo available for purchase, before renovation:

The link below appears to be showing the same silo, with some differences in pictures.

The link below shows a renovated missile silo for sale after 30 years of work.

The renovated site appears (to me) to show what an underground facility on Mars might look like, given a creative flair and a suitable budget.

Coupled when we do build as in this topic Construction technology for Mars?
As Calliban meantioned from reading the topics post on radiation we do drift in our topics and while the posts could be considated into a single topic it would be very time consuming to pick out all posts on key word Radiation since it covers a band of frequencies and types to which man could be exposed to. As noted reducing the levels are the key to staying for man on Mars forever. This is why constructing our habitat so that we are protected is such a key element to success. Knowing that we are limited for delivery of mass to mars is the highest importance when it comes to a manifest creation. As in the Lunar missions the mass of a bandaid counts....
I like the content of you post back on the last page tahanson43206 for the interactive mission virtual classroom.
Here is a bit more for that exercise group schedule

The key is not just making the energy but being able to store it for later use. The lowimpact page has lots of stuff to go for more topics on the right side bar of other stories. These can also be applied to the poverty topic as well as energy is costly.

Thanks for the (to me) awesome find! I was amazed at this experiment enlisting students to power their environment. It was good to see that a windy day gave them some relief from the energy production chore.

The power levels given are due to the high rpm alternator which is just that from a car, a regular car battery and a crude squarewave invertor for creating AC power for use. A properly designed power generator would make quite a bit more power than a car alternator would.

As I understand the history of it Apollo has been perhaps the greatest achievement, there are other wonders with Robots but for humans Shuttle came along opening other ideas at LEO but it was a very complex machine. Bush junior had to do something after the disaster and loss of Astronauts, the Chinese had become players in space and Russia was on more friendly terms helping keep the ISS afloat, Bush junior dusted off plans from his father Bush senior, he wasn't updating policy for votes, he was updating a Vision for the future of NASA. The vision could have been reworked or cancelled both Bush junior and Obama cancelled and tweaked elements of the vision, Trump added his own items like the 'Space Force' in a changing world but could have changed more, but both Republican and Democrat have approved the current direction thats why Senate and Congress doesn't talk about it until they see massive cost over-runs.
