Re: Aerial phenomena

We have no evidence they are 'Aliens' it seems to be more easily explained by Drone or Atmospheric Unexplained Phenomena but some will 'Believe' maybe the UFO-olgy religion types?

Psychologists Douglas Vakoch and Yuh-shiow Lee conducted a survey to assess people's reactions to receiving a message from extraterrestrials, including their judgments about likelihood that extraterrestrials would be malevolent. "People who view the world as a hostile place are more likely to think extraterrestrials will be hostile," Vakoch told USA Today.

Harvard astronomer and lead scientist of The Galileo Project, Avi Loeb, has argued that humanity is not ready to adopt a sense of what he calls "cosmic modesty" and that this could change if the project detects "relics" of more advanced civilizations. Loeb postulates that if we find that we "are not the smartest kid on the cosmic block, it will give us a different perspective" – such as the way we think about our place in the universe, for example with relevance to prevalent religious worldviews, in which humans may often be considered unique or exceptional

independent study team on categorizing and evaluating data of UAP

https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa … na-meeting

Outlining how to evaluate and study UAP by using data, technology, and the tools of science is a NASA priority. It is not a review or assessment of previous unidentifiable observations. The report will inform NASA on what possible data could be collected in the future to shed light on the nature and origin of UAP."

Governments around the world appear to be engaged in an arms race to gather as much technology as possible from retrieved UAPs ahead of their competitors.  It appears that they wish to delay public recognition of this phenomena for as long as possible.  Admitting the truth to the world would raise a lot of awkward questions from the public and from other nations governments.  Keeping it as secret as possible is a strategic advantage for all involved.

Re: Aerial phenomena

For Calliban re #29 ... Thanks for adding these links to the topic and to the forum archive.

It is human nature (where a person works for the government or otherwise) not to want to be judged a fool or a simpleton.

You may well have never met a true UFO believer, but I have met a few.  They are a breed apart.  They have a tolerance for possibilities that is greater than that of the average person.

Along with the greater tolerance for possibilities I observe a greater tolerance for error.   I suspect it is the greater tolerance for error that puts off the average person.

Never-the-less, it seems to me that the ability to take in (and make sense of) new information about the Real Universe is important for the human race over all.

For that reason, I am glad to see signs of greater tolerance for error on the part of those who've assumed (or been given) responsibility for managing the public resources of their respective nations.

I'll follow the links you provided later today, when a computer with the needed capabilities becomes available.

Re: Aerial phenomena

I've seen a lot of UFO's in my life.  All but one of them I eventually figured out what they were.  That sometimes took quite a while.  One was the SR-71,  2 years before its existence was announced.

The one I never figured out,  and I tried really hard,  was in July 1974.  It was a satellite in a westward orbit. And I know a satellite from an airplane when I see one.

Back then,  I was in the launch business doing "Scout" stuff at Vought.  I checked sources at Vought:  it was not one of ours,  and it was not a Russian.  No one else on Earth was flying in space back then.

And to this day,  NOBODY on Earth launches westward,  against the rotation of the Earth.

But somebody capable of traversing the interstellar void,  would have the energies to be able to not care a whit about the penalty for wrong-way rotation.

GW

Update 6-7-2023:  apparently some do launch westward today.  The Israelis,  for one.  But,  not back when I saw the UFO!

1965, Astérix, the first French satellite in space, is successfully launched by a Diamant rocket from the Algerian desert.

Israel launches Westward or did launch, they would launch two stage rockets and its space branch was established in the 1960s, bad relations between Arabs and Israeli maybe had them launch away from Arab states West not East, they had a name change like the Japanese did, the current  Israel Space Agency ISA was formed in 1983. From 1988 onward they successfully put satellites in orbit, Mass    350–800 kg and stages of the Shavit were that of the Jericho II missile. Development contract for the Jericho I signed between Israel and the French company Dassault in the 60s.

French lost their north African colonies, looking for a new place I wonder if they were spending time in Israel? Eventually they settle on a site in S.America.

Goldie Hawn Says An E.T. Touched Her And It 'Felt Like A Finger Of God'

https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/goldie-h … 11540.html

The Oscar-winning actor said she had been dancing outside when she decided to take a nap in a fellow dancer’s car.

That wasn’t Hawn’s only paranormal experience, she said.

She recounted a dream she had in London of seeing six lights coming up on “some little mountains up across the valley.” Later, she drove to a place that resembled the valley in her dream where she ran into a mysterious heart-shaped crop circle.

Hawn said she didn’t know if that crop circle sighting was a sign but that it didn’t really matter.
