Ski snowmobiles for liquid rain regions that become solids

Many vehicles used at our North Pole and the region of Antartica could have elements in their design reused for snowy offworld exploration. Water will be need for human or animal biological colonies, water at times is truly a mineral not a liquid on other worlds, on Triton frozen water is as hard as steels. On Titan there is probably rains or snows during winter summer, JFK once looked to Mars and VonBraun once thought of skiing for snowflake regions on Mars, Pluto could have sticky sliding snow capped mountains and Titan has a complicated atmosphere and in orbit MRO records Carbon-Dioxide Snowfall on Mars, Enceladus and Europa might have waters which are thrown out and crystalize like a snow canon. Some Moons have cryo-volcanism and snow at powerful level they cross from one Moon and snowfall upon another, Venus might also have some type of hellish Volcanic snow.

When winter comes to Mars, the surface is transformed into a truly otherworldly holiday scene. Snow, ice, and frost accompany the season’s sub-zero temperatures. Some of the coldest of these occur at the planet’s poles, where it gets as low as minus 190 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 123 degrees Celsius).

Cold as it is, don’t expect snow drifts worthy of the Rocky Mountains. No region of Mars gets more than a few feet of snow, most of which falls over extremely flat areas. And the Red Planet’s elliptical orbit means it takes many more months for winter to come around: a single Mars year is around two Earth years.

Martian snow comes in two varieties: water ice and carbon dioxide, or dry ice. Because Martian air is so thin and the temperatures so cold, water-ice snow sublimates, or becomes a gas, before it even touches the ground. Dry-ice snow actually does reach the ground.

“Enough falls that you could snowshoe across it,” said Sylvain Piqueux, a Mars scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California whose research includes a variety of winter phenomena. “If you were looking for skiing, though, you’d have to go into a crater or cliffside, where snow could build up on a sloped surface.”

Urban and Rural plans for Mars

The need for a vehicle

plus a recreation 'sport' to keep human minds healthy and busy

'Working in Antarctica Was Mindless Boredom. Until I Found a Pair of Skis.'

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/working- … 42763.html

My favorite spot on the East Antarctic plateau, the planet's highest, driest, coldest, windiest, deadest desert, is the Love Shack--an uninsulated plywood box the size of a modest bathroom, painted black to absorb the 24-hour sunlight, furnished with a chair, a desk, a cot, and a pile of coarse cotton blankets. Rumor has it that researchers and laborers at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, which sits about two miles away, occasionally require a refuge for romance, something I tried not to think about when I was in there. Like a prep school or military base, the station is insular, a cheek-to-jowl compound of laboratories, workshops, dorms, and supply depots, and the 250 inhabitants during the austral summer are hard-pressed to find privacy sufficient for their (ahem) needs.

In my case--that of a 22-year-old Vermonter who in 2008 ditched his wonderful college girlfriend to chase the ineffable at the bottom of the globe--the Love Shack was a strictly celibate hermitage: pencil, notebook, a couple cans of Speight's Gold Medal Ale, immense quiet interrupted by chattering teeth. I frequently spent Saturday evenings shacked up with only amorphous breath clouds for company, shivering and gazing through the plexiglass window, simultaneously contemplating the sprawling abiotic wasteland and--beneath thermal undies, a fleece sweater, and a fat red fur-ruffed parka--my own navel. The idea was to space way out and space way in. Touch the edge, the border where inner and outer converge. Take some solo time with The Ice.

Watching a Mars vehicle race or Skiing would be a way to introduce recreation and occupy people with relaxing 'fun time'

Billiards, Pool, Snooker, Darts or Bowling or Bowls might also work in a small space although it might introduce gambling, drinking and other 'Vices' not approved
