Re: Housekeeping

Current temperature outside at 6pm is already at -4'F my inside temp is at 46'F.

Temperature at 8 pm is now -9'F outside and it's dropped to 44'F inside since I was going in and out of the door to bring in groceries for tomorrow due to being predicted as being near -50'F

With some heat coming from the clothes dryer venting inside rather than wasting its energy. We are expected to reach -40 without the windchill being added in.

update Saturday
this morning temperatures are near 0'F with Windchill getting to -20'F woke to inside temperatures at 36'F but we have since the sun has come up now near noon gotten to 44'F. Have activated another IR heater to help boost internal home temperatures but it's not doing all that much even with the dryer blowing its warm air into the house. It's going to be another tough day as temperatures are still to be negative during the night with warming tomorrow.

update Saturday evening
10pm its 3'F outside and with other source in addition to the dryer its now 50'F inside Have also hung more plastic across areas to reduce drafts coming from cellar and main entrance that is at ground level from cooling the living space of what some would call a split level.

Hopefully it will warm up enough to be able to start the Subaru tomorrow as it turned over real slow due to the extreme cold.

update
sunday

Well the car needed to have a charge to get the battery up to a level to crank the engine over faster but the temperatures were on the rise from its start at 3'F and by afternoon we were over 40"F did see once the car started a bit of coolant leaking and was hoping that it was not a gasket or freeze plug but after a bit of running it got better and was fine all day.
The inside temp to start the day was 46'F and by this evening we have gotten to 56'F before doing the drying of the clothes that we washed today, that will make for a bit better sleep tonight as its warm once more.

For SpaceNut re #2751 and weekend report ...

I realize that Mount Washington is some distance away, but it's not ** that ** far away...

Your temperatures were challenging, but at least they weren't ** this ** bad...

USA TODAY
That's cold! Minus 108 F wind chill, 97 MPH winds hit Mount Washington, New Hampshire.
Mon, February 6, 2023 at 9:00 PM EST
The wind chill on the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire, dropped to minus 108 F, which is likely the lowest ever recorded in the country.

Re: Housekeeping

For SpaceNut re Server Error message ....

The Server Error message I got earlier today does not seem to be hitting most members.

I haven't checked the Member email yet but since posts seem to be flowing, I'm assuming the problem has something to do with the Calendar series.

I cut the daily post down to just a few lines and it went through, so I'll keep it there for a while, adding just a few lines per day until it breaks.

I'm not aware of anything that has changed in the post, but (obviously) there is ** something ** going on that FluxBB doesn't like.

I have no idea what's going on at the moment.

Apparently I'm the only member getting these messages.

Re: Housekeeping

For SpaceNut re #2763

Thanks for noting the errors I've reported.   As long as I'm the only one getting the errors I can just roll with it.  When other members start seeing the error, we're going to have to deal with it.  Some time back James Burk informed us that he can no longer allocate time to perform the duties of webmaster.  (th)

Update a few minutes later ...

I use a variety of systems throughout the day ... a mix of operating systems and versions.

It ** just ** hit me that I've seen the server error on Linux boxes ... I'll start paying more attention to where I am when the error occurs.

Right now I'm on a Windows 7 system and updates are proceeding smoothly as usual.

Re: Housekeeping

Since it's not a windows OS and it's doing it on an Android system then it might be the service that you are connecting through that might be causing it.

Update

edit mode I got this error upon submitting the change within a post in the geothermal topic

Re: Housekeeping

For SpaceNut ... Thanks for picking up on the Server Error I'm seeing....

As long as the problem remains confined to me, I'm content to just deal with it.  The common element is Void's Geothermal topic.

Please post a test message in that topic.  The test message appears to need to be large, but regardless of message size, once the error starts, it doesn't let up for any subsequent attempts to post, whether of new messages or edits of old ones.

So far no one has written to NewMarsMember reporting the problem, so I'm hoping it is just happening to me.

Today's calendar updates and all the Email Outreach posts went normally.

***
Side note ... thanks for finding the repeat of the electrolysis post ... The contents looks almost identical to the article I posted today, from oilprice.com.

Side note (2) *** I am delighted to see RobertDyck and kbd512 talking about fusion drive for Large Ship.

If the concepts in play can be organized into a working system, the Solar System is wide open.

Side note (3) ... The most recent issue of Analog contains a Mars based detective story with plenty of Marsy touches.

The only defect I've found so far is the notion of the wind "howling" outside the habitat.  The light weight breezes we've heard about so far are not going to be doing any howling.  The dust of a decent dust storm might do a bit of gentle tapping at any exposed surface, but I'd expect there will be few of those except for vehicles that might be in transit.

The prediction of deterioration of the physical condition of second and third generation Martians seems (to my eye) to be particularly well done.

The author of this piece is Harry Lang.

This is the second story accepted by Analog by this author.

For spaceNut re 32768...

Did you save the error messages?

I'm starting to think there might be a problem just with that topic.

The Scan for Potholes just finished, with a report of 2 potholes for 1000 posts.

While the ideal might be zero, two is not bad.  A pothole can occur when a member deletes a message.

Completed Sequence for ID: 206000

Total Command Lines found: 34
Total input Lines in script: 206

  Number of ID's processed: 1000

Starting Number: 205001

Last Number of Run: 206000

Summary for Web Automation Report for 02-14-2023 at 19:44:10
Average time of Loop from Main form: 00:00:28
2 Skip Exceptions were recorded.

Total time of Processing: 08:41:46

Total time Program was Active: 08:58:56

EOJ Msg#1: Successful Run. No Warning Errors.

I'll add details of the pothole(s) in a few minutes.

There was only one new pothole:

SK: S k ipping to Next Item from Post ID: 205087 B a d request
T i me Out! Skip Requested! S k i pping to Next from Post: 205087

The program found my report on the previous scan to 205000, and reported ** that ** as a problem.

To prevent that happening next time, I'll modify the report text above.

Re: Housekeeping

For SpaceNut ... thanks for pointing me to 2766.... I had seen that post when it first appeared, but I had not seen the update.

This confirms (or at least reinforces) my suspicion that the fault (whatever it is) seems to be limited to Void's topic.

Next time Terraformer arrives back in the forum, I'll try to suggest it might make sense to create a new topic dedicated to the town heating/cooling project.

That's big enough to deserve it's own topic.

Re: Housekeeping

Just made a moderate sized post and it went ok but when I started to make this post it was frozen. The magic of the task monitor showed 100 disk activity with outlook was running even though It was not started and once that was terminated the window was responsive once more.

update

I just watched the task bar quick launch icons all cycle off to back on.

This small block of text caused Internal Server Error in Housekeeping

Mars is in Regular Movement as seen from Earth. Mars is progressing from right to left in the view from Earth.
Next up: Star TYC 1835-841-1 RA 04h 52m 25.6s Mg 9.65 Day 0 just above path at far left

I've removed two sections of bold ... and two lines of text

In further testing the error appeared for every attempt
