Getting to the Moon has become cheaper with Musk and the Private space sector, soon we might see Trucks or Cars arrive. The private sector makes travel cheaper and savings on cost and propellant can be done by have an upper stage payload using ion engine thruster used an electrostatic power to ionize a small mass of propellant to go all the way to the Moon. On Earth people watch major launches and major sports events, humans watch Sport and Car racing
People are entertained by robots on tv, they watch Olympics or they also go to events where Robots compete in games
Big companies like Boston Dynamics or car and bike companies like Toyota, Hyundai, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Polaris, GM, Porsche, Harley-Davidson, Ferrari, Kawasaki, Chevrolet, Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, Citroën, Yamaha, Nissan, Volvo, Renault, Ford, might race their robot trucks and bikes and cars across the Moon, this Race entertainment might one day be exported to Mars or maybe even as far away as Titan or one day even race with real people? There might even be an obstacle course, Trialthon or Decathlon combined event where a Robo-Buggy even climbs craters and cliff faces, perhaps Hopping like an animal or shooting a Grappling hook or Ninja style Kaginawa. BattleBots is highly rated and watched American robot combat television series it is a copied adaptation of British show Robot Wars. Eurobot is a French British international robotics contest dedicated to universities and robotics clubs. RoboMaster is a Chinese annual intercollegiate robot competition held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, RoboCup is an international robotics competition founded by university professors and in Japan a robot competition is a contest event where the abilities and characteristics of robots may be tested and a winner assessed, UAV Challenge Outback Rescue is a test of rescue innovation with prizes awarded in Australia.
Why would a Robot company or a multi national Car Bike corporation do it? Bragging rights perhaps, even if they did not win first place they could say their vehicle or robot survived and got past the finish line.
Very often in Car racing the technology filters and trickles down into regular motors.
