NewMarsMember * gmail.com portal is open for business.
There was/were no incoming traffic item(s) at the Portal this morning. No outgoing message(s) was/were sent.
Planning for an Email Outreach to former NewMars members is underway. The automation is ready, and the text is ready.
With this post and going forward, we (Admins) will offer a new policy for use of our Zoom account. Instead of offering a fixed weekly Zoom opportunity, we invite members to request Zoom meetings. The time and participants can be worked out to suit everyone. This is another opportunity for us to thank Executive Director James Burk for providing this professional account, and for helping us through the learning curve. Until we receive a request, we offer Zoom opportunities Sunday evenings.
Our newest member is "BeerMan". Admins will be trying to improve the flow of Registration. If there are others thinking of applying for membership, please send an email. At the moment, we have decided to create a temporary password and send it to the new member candidate, so we eliminate the uncertainty of the automated email process. We have confirmed the new member can choose a password using the non-email password change feature.
The forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in the Interstate 80 Pacific Ocean pipeline.
This forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in manufacture of synthetic fuel using solar power in Texas.
This forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in manufacture of synthetic fuel using nuclear power not in Texas.
Please note that membership in the Mars Society is proposed for admission. The Mars Society bears the cost of the computer services and related services that support the NewMars forum.
I am looking for new members who are blessed with enough time and energy to participate for some time into the future.
Such folk must be ** out there ** !! We'd be glad to have you!
We are also happy to welcome former members back into the active community. It has been brought to my attention that a number of former members are marked as "banned". In many cases, this marking is a limitation of FluxBB, which is the forum software.
Because of the onslaught of thousands upon thousands of spammers over 20+ years, the decision was made to close off access to inactive accounts. Unfortunately, the only mechanism available is the "banning" tool. If you are an older member and you find your account has been banned, it may have been locked to prevent hacker access. You can ask SpaceNut to reactivate the account. See the procedure below. Those who were banned for inappropriate behavior may also apply. SpaceNut will then have the opportunity to evaluate your application.
GW Johnson has extended an invitation to readers of his ExRocketman blog, to visit NewMars. If anyone is interested in opening an account, just drop a note to the portal.
GW Johnson gave a presentation to the North Houston NSS on April 9th. This was a follow up to the Large Ship presentation given by RobertDyck on March 12th. Both presentations are available for viewing from northhoustonspace.org.

There are nearly 8 billion people on Earth these days, and several billion have access to the Internet. This forum is accessible to ** every ** Earth citizen with Internet access. We have 11,199 freshly refurbished User Id's ready for new members, and Id's through 18,344 are waiting for finishing touches.
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts not accessible upon lookup. Current stopping point is 80000 of 299294.
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.
The author of a concept for a 17 person expedition to Mars has specifically requested participation by peers to help.
A proposal for an 8 member expedition is in review.
RobertDyck could use assistance of all kinds in development of the Large Ship proposal. There are three animation/drawing systems in play.
Fusion 360 is a version of commercial software by AutoDesk that is available for student non-commercial use. It requires a beefy computer.
Blender is a free animation package that includes drawing capability.
The Large Ship project may stimulate spinoff activities, such as a 3D Virtual Experience. Volunteers are needed. See Recruiting for details.
Large Ship has split into three versions. The original is a single rotating passenger vessel.
The first competitor is a counter rotating design, with both habitats rotating about the same axis.
The second competitor is laid out with the axis of rotation of the counter rotating habitats parallel instead of identical.
Large Ship has also spawned a new topic dedicated to design and construction of an on-Earth Analog facility for living human beings.
Large Ship has also spawned a new topic dedicated to engineering design and construction on Earth of a flight ready prototype.
Large Ship has also spawned a topic dedicated to design and deployment of a Gravity Remediation facility for space travelers.
The My Hacienda topic is in need of 7,800 individuals to populate a virtual community to simulate self-sustainability on Mars
The subject of abundant energy supply for the population of Earth (and Mars in due time) is under discussion in the Nuclear Power is Safe topic. It seems reasonable (to me at least) to suppose all fossil fuel power stations can be replaced with modular nuclear fission packages quite rapidly if the people of Earth decide that is a good idea. It appears the leadership of China thinks that is a good idea for their nation.
A book was recommended for discussion: Beyond Oil and Gas: The Methanol Economy by Olah, Goeppert and Prakash
Abundant energy from modular fission reactors is continuing to receive attention.
A book was recommended for discussion: "Plentiful Energy" (about fission reactors).
Read Post #2 of this topic for procedures to apply for membership. Mention specific assistance you wish to provide.
For existing registered members who have lost your password ... If you remember the email address you used to register, you can request a recovery email at that address. If you no longer have the email available (as could happen over 20+ years) just write to this email address. Your request will be forwarded to SpaceNut, who has the tools available to assist as needed.
For all ... we really ** are ** looking for members who want to make a difference by helping others with projects, or providing leadership on new projects. We have a ready supply of folks who can and will make comments and offer suggestions. We don't need more folks in that specialty. We ** do ** need folks who can and ** will ** help project leaders already trying to achieve something in the real world.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

NewMarsMember * gmail.com portal is open for business.
There was/were no incoming traffic item(s) at the Portal this morning. No outgoing message(s) was/were sent.
An Email Outreach campaign to former NewMars members is underway. One member will be selected per day, for 3+ years.

We ** know ** the site is of interest to spammers! Hopefully it is of interest to others who want to use their time more productively.

We have 11,199 freshly refurbished User Id's ready for new members, and Id's through 18,344 are waiting for finishing touches.
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts not accessible upon lookup.
Current stopping point is 90000
Current active post is 199741
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.

NewMarsMember * gmail.com portal is open for business.
There was/were no incoming traffic item(s) at the Portal this morning. No outgoing message(s) was/were sent.
An Email Outreach campaign to former NewMars members is underway. One member will be reviewed per day, for 3+ years.

A new Blender/Fusion 360 collaboration is under way. The goal is to create 3D printable models of Large Ship habitat rings

We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.
A new Blender/Fusion 360 collaboration is under way. The goal is to create 3D printable models of Large Ship habitat rings

We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.
A new Blender/Fusion 360 collaboration is under way. The goal is to create 3D printable models of Large Ship habitat rings

We ** know ** the site is of interest to spammers! Hopefully it is of interest to others who want to use their time more productively.
