We had much discussion on personality type and politics and morality for Mars, here is something from a scifi fantasy game

In Syria, Putin acted like a cold-blooded calculator who reached his objective to save his ally Bashar Assad, skillfully avoiding to trigger a direct confrontation with USA and Turkey, so I don't think he will invade other countries.

Trying to reverse time back to early 1900's when Russia was great it would seem.
Seems the long haul is the continual resupply of weapons to keep the war going without other nations sending in fighting forces seems to be the stalemate the world is set on.

A nation that wanted the Russians in it to solve its problems now may be regretting it.

I saw recently that planes may be heading to the Ukraine to make use of. With each upping of the type of weapon used we are getting valuable data for performance and how to make use of them that we would otherwise would not be getting.

The use of incendiary munitions in this instance is likely meant to be a defoliant, stripping trees of there vegetation and taking away the enemies ability to operate under concealment.

Trench warfare was a type of land fighting using occupied lines largely comprising military trenches, in which troops are well-protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery. Trench warfare became associated with World War I

The new era of WW2 seen new armoured warfare and new combined arms tactics permitted static lines to be bypassed

However now there are moving robot machines that are tank killer, improvised drone birds are printed and built and these little machines take out the big tanks

With MBT's not as tough and invincible as they used to be Trench Warefare returns, "Lions led by donkeys" is a phrase popularly used to describe the British infantry of the First World War and to blame the generals who led them the European old "trench warfare" idea almost had a oppressive psychological element to its description in old books and magazine it became a byword for stalemate, bloody attrition, almost endless sieges, and futility of battle with no true end in conflict.

Trench warfare is the only kind of warfare that Russia and Ukraine can engage in using the weapons they have, which is why it's so brutal and drawn-out.  Russia has plenty of modern weapons to use to kill unarmed civilians, but zero experience actually fighting a modern war.

Interesting footage filmed through a thermal scope shows a Russian attack helicopter "lofting" unguided rockets toward Ukrainian positions.

The technique is significantly less effective than aiming directly at enemy targets, but it allows the aircraft to stay out of range of MANPADS and air defense artillery. This video is especially interesting because it shows the impacts of the rockets, giving the viewer an idea the effectiveness of the technique. Essentially the rockets are being used like a BM-21 Grad MLRS rocket barrage, although the helos rockets are much less powerful. While lofting rockets may be useless against point targets like individual vehicles, it can be useful for terrain denial and vehicle staging areas.
