CRISPR Virus Identification

This topic is starting out with an article that describes research that uses CRISPR techniques to rapidly identify Covid-19 virus in samples.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fast-cheap-a … 24214.html

The work being done may not be ready for deployment before the current emergency is over, but (apparently) the techniques being explored should work for ** any ** future virus that comes along, and they ** will ** come along.

For SpaceNut ... this post could go into one of the Covid topics, but when I went looking for them just now they didn't show up.

Re: CRISPR Virus Identification

The rapid testing make use of dna and rna fragments for the quick test while the same are grown in the long duration test to see if you have the virus by the other companies.

Since signs of infection are 3-5 days some longer from when you are in contact  issue for tracing since its so long since getting it and knowing that you have it and that is why the rapid test is so critical.

Its usually in that initial number of days in which you are most infectious for spreading it that is the issue.

After review of the other topic I did find several posts with the RNA and DNA fragments being mentioned for rapid and detection tests for the virus but not the term CRISPR as you noted.
