The article at the link below reports on the success of the first version of a (sort of) AI assistant at the ISS, and plans to greatly extend it's capabilities, to include interaction with crew members to (among other things) detect "group think".

There has been a few robots that float around the station over the years and its only a matter of time to when they think to assist before we are asking for the help.

An AI is livestreaming a never-ending bass solo on YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBXNr-m … =emb_title
Notes are a very specific set of tonal values of which period of time varies and well as for the tempo of the song. The increments from one note to the next follows scales which can run in minor or in major scales.
As a solo it does not interact with others to call or see the next transitions scale notes that might follow in a progression of notes that make up the tune or melody and without a tune we are not likely to expressed emotion within the songs never ending parade of notes played by the AI.
Will need to listen to the tune later....

The article below is NOT about emotional intelligence, but it ** is ** about use of artificial intelligence to design computer chips ...
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/google-resear … 12598.html
A number of these designs were not initially intuitively better to experts, "but still delivered really good results," Mirhoseini said. The AI-designed floor plans have inspired experts with new ideas, such as placing components in doughnut shapes to reduce the distances between them, she noted.
Google is now manufacturing these AI-designed chips. The researchers suggested that more powerful AI-designed hardware can in turn fuel more advances in AI.
This new floor planning strategy could also help tackle other problems that involve looking for the best uses of limited sets of resources, such as city planning or vaccine testing and distribution, the scientists added. They detailed their findings in the June 10 issue of the journal "Nature."
Inside Science is an editorially independent nonprofit print, electronic and video journalism news service owned and operated by the American Institute of Physics.
This forum only has two topics that contain the the word "intelligence", and the FluxBB Search engine refuses to accept "ai" as a real word.

They didn't call it Hal?
Next letter in the alphabet after each letter of "Hal": IBM. That's not a coincidence. "2001: A Space Odyssey" was released in April 1968. IBM dominated the mainframe computer market at that time. It wasn't a direct plug for IBM, just based on technology at the time.

For SpaceNut re #7
Your observation about the automation of chip design gave me a moment to reflect ...
It is certainly possible that Google will continue to drive the push to AI. We experience the growth of the Search Engine every day. I've commented previously on the (to me astonishing) manner in which Google adapts to questions posed in looking for something. The design of chips to make more intelligent machines would seem to lead to the ability to direct the manufacture, but that capability is (apparently) not yet in place. Design and manufacture are currently separated functions. It is (probably) just a matter of time, and we will see vertical integration of the entire process.
I hope the humans who are guiding this process along are keeping an eye (or in this case, several sets) on things as they develop.

5 Types of Artificial Intelligence that will Shape 2021 and Beyond

AI features regular in entertainment media in the West and Asia, I think some have alreadyn accepted it may become a part of life.
They didn't call it Hal?
There were two AI robots killed before 'Tay' and maybe Zo were their names, it was a learning chat bot but a bunch of blogger trolls, 4chan hackers and pranksters flooded its feed with cursing and political messages, eventually Microsoft killed one of them. https://dailywireless.org/internet/what … i-chatbot/ , https://www.engadget.com/2017-07-04-mic … abits.html
The entertianment media recently relaunched or remade the Xfuiles show and the bot became the subject of one of the episodes, "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" a kind of 'Don’t Forget to Tip' type thing were the robot takes offense to something said or the robot takes offense to something not done and everything goes kinda 'Hal' crazy. The big long number name for the episode is Base64 group of binary-to-text encoding.
Mulder and Scully are having to run away from an angry A.I bot that has spread itself everywhere like an AI virus.
