The new Chinese Rover has images and news that is slowly released on world news media, China already showed a landing video and sounds captured by Zhurong Mars rover
China's deployment of a powerful robotic arm attached to the core module of its Tiangong Space Station has sparked concerns across the US as the technology "could be used in a future system for grappling other satellites".
https://news.yahoo.com/deployment-giant … 09398.html
The 10-metre-long device, which is capable of lifting objects weighing up to 20 tonnes and can move around on the outside of the station, will be used to grab incoming spacecraft as they approach and help them to the dock, South China Morning Post reported.
Though the content is not new, China has launched several scavenger satellites fitted with robotic arms to gather and steer space debris so it burns up in the Earth's atmosphere.
James Dickinson, commander of the US Space Command, told a congressional hearing last month that the technology "could be used in a future system for grappling other satellites" and was, therefore, a concern to the US military.

Will collaboration or competition define international space science and exploration in the 21st century? The answer could come down to how two spaceflight superpowers, the U.S. and China, choose to engage with each other in the next few years.

This from today's "Daily Launch" from AIAA. It would appear that China has no prejudice against big solids. Wanna bet on the number of O-rings in the joint seals? -- GW
China Test Fires Massive Solid-Fueled Rocket Engine
SPACE (10/24) reports that China test fired a new solid-fueled rocket motor last Tuesday “at a site near Xi’an city in north China, firing for 115 seconds, creating a tremendous trail of flame and exhaust.” The new rocket motor “was developed by the Academy of Aerospace Solid Propulsion Technology (AASPT) which belongs to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the country’s main space contractor.” CASC “said it is the most powerful solid rocket motor with the largest thrust in the world so far.”
PS -- calling it an "engine" is improper terminology. It is a "solid rocket" or a "solid rocket motor". Just an almighty big one. All the propellant is housed within the enormous chamber cavity, except that nobody in the business calls it "chamber", although we do refer to "chamber pressure". With solids, that "chamber" is called the "motor case" or just the "case".

Vids of New Crew seem to be busy doing the usual stuff science station experiments, checking systems and talking with ground, cutting their own hair, physical excercises and preparing food. I'm still amazed at how clean and new everything looks, its a pity the ISS is getting old.
Here's a thread discussion on China-Arm or "ChinArm" currently on the station, its new robotic arm but very similar to designs by Canada, NASA, ESA, and Japan but Chinese have their own unique elements to the design, the robotic dual-arm connector and the shorter one to be launched with Wengtian and Mengtian? The space station will have more than 20 experimental racks with over 1,000 experiments approved.
Mengtian and Mengtian module/section are major components of the Chinese space station, experiments can also be placed on the outside of the modules, for exposure to cosmic rays and solar winds etc. I can't read much Chinese so if you want to understand the writing maybe copy and paste the Chinese Mandarin text into a translator

The Chang'e-5 project is confronted with the situation of "new research rocket, new research probe, new launch site", and has the characteristics of many flight stages, many key links, many design constraints, etc., is by far the most complex and technologically extensive space systems engineering in China, is the major special scientific and technological project of the lunar exploration project.

'The focus is on seven aspects of technological innovation, such as a novel scheme of return of samples of extraterrestrial objects and two sampling modes—surface sampling and drilling. Eight large-scale tests involving mission matching, coordination, and correctness were analyzed. The tests included the re-entry flight test and a comprehensive test of lunar surface landing and taking-off. The results can provide an important reference for other extraterrestrial sample return missions.'

14 years ago I stated that the Chinese space program was not as good as what the Europeans under ESA could do
I was right
But China has kept investing and the space program has become a symbol of Chinas future
That means the money has flowed
Chinas capability is now very good from what it stole from Russia and (other nations) it has advanced to the point it is putting a space station into Earth orbit, I do not though believe that manned missions to the Moon or Mars will be possible for at least another 14 years

Welcome back Grypd! The Chinese have been stripping the intellectual property of the rest of the world for a long time. Their economy has grown rapidly. However, I personally believe that a combination of energy resource depletion and falling working age population is going to lead to economic decline in China relatively soon. The Chinese leadership realise that their coal production is past its historic peak and they are building nuclear reactors at a faster rate than the entire rest of the world. Time will tell whether this will be sufficient to stave off a catastrophic collapse.
"Plan and prepare for every possibility, and you will never act. It is nobler to have courage as we stumble into half the things we fear than to analyse every possible obstacle and begin nothing. Great things are achieved by embracing great dangers."

I agree Welcome back Grypd! Both points are coming true.

Thanks Guys
China is an economic bubble and that is a problem.
But purely back to space I can see China going for prestige missions but they do not have the capability to keep anything that comes close to the continous ability to Launch mass regularily.
The west has that with Space X and Blue origin etc with the ability to reuse rockets and the ability to put much heavier payloads into space with this increasing

Designers at the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the country's major maker of carrier rockets, are researching a super-heavy rocket that will be several times bigger and mightier than the Long March 5, now the biggest and strongest in China's Long March rocket family.
With a length of nearly 90 meters, the new rocket, which has yet to be named, will have a liftoff weight of about 2,000 metric tons and will be able to place a 25-ton spacecraft into an Earth-moon trajectory, designers said, adding that this new model will serve the manned lunar landing.

It's possible the China Rover will be on the surface for a very long while yet, NASA’s Opportunity rover ended up exploring the planet for record breaking 14 years despite originally being intended to operate for just 90 days, perhaps with their Heavy Lift rocket coming Chinese have ambitions for the Moon, Mars and Deep Space. Both NASA and China have talked of smaple returns, Musk has also talked about returning a sample from the surface of Mars.
