Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

SpaceNut,

With all those wasted electrons, not a single pertinent detail was reported by "mainstream media", which means they don't know anything and nobody who does know has said anything.  Apart from teaching our government why there's no such thing as "security through obscurity", nor security because a company said so, I would hope that if everything stated was actually true, that critical control systems are no longer connected to the internet, by wires or wireless technology.  We used to be smart enough not to order companies to put backdoors in their software, nor take anyone's word for it that the software was secure.  If it's easy for our own government to break into someone's server, then it's just as easy for anyone else with the requisite knowledge to do the same.  Microsoft's software has never been designed with security in mind, nor will it ever remotely resemble a secure system without application of fundamentally different thinking.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

The hack was undetected for 9 months

It attacked 250 agencies and 18000 server networks.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

SpaceNut,

That article you posted was every bit as detailed as saying "the Russians spied on us".  I want to see one silly pertinent detail about the attack itself.

This gives a little more on how the agencies were complaciant in verifying software before downloading or installing it.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

SpaceNut,

I see that this malware masquerading as security software was installed on a bunch of machines running the Windows OS.  Have you at least considered the possibility that the Windows OS is the true malware package?

I sincerely hope that Marc Abel is hard at work on a practical solution.

I personally think that Windows gave out the free upgrades from 7 - 8.1 had some virus in it due to the number of hard drive failures soon after. I lost 2 laptops and a replacement hard drive and did not get any response at all.

Here is another reason for increased software security as Hacker tries to poison Pinellas County, Florida town's water supply

The hacker or hackers was controlling the computer system's mouse — opening various functions on the screen and changing the sodium hydroxide in the water supply from about 100 parts per million to 11,100 parts per millionote

control of mouse is serial bus, usb port commands....

Cybersecurity experts say U.S. needs to strike back after SolarWinds hack

U.S. government agencies were sent a routine software update. This happened regularly with SolarWinds Orion software. There was no reason to suspect anything was wrong with the update.

We call that complancy...trust but verify

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

The Dominion guy lied under oath claiming that his voting machines were not connected to the Internet. But no one in the USA is allowed to say this on any important MSM or social media platform. Menawhile the liars at Dominion continue to file multi-billion dollar suits against anyone who righfully calls into question their claims.

We are talking about the electoral process here. You can't have billion dollar intimidation closing down legitimate claims of massive electoral fraud.

You need to face up: the USA is no longer a democracy in any meaningful sense. It is a society that operates on financial corruption at the highest level (ie Presidential level), on massive electoral fraud, on denial of the First Amendment, on violent assaults on anyone who does not accept the political consensus and on de facto censorship on the internet and on the mainstream media.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

Just to make it clear: you are now a very big Banana Republic and China owns the bananas.

You don't seem to realise American democracy and greatness is at an end. Your election was just stolen. Your President took bribes from the CCP Chinese government via his son. It's all documented. You just don't want to believe it.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

Louis,

America is not a banana republic, at least not yet.  We're suffering through some serious inner turmoil, as are many other countries.  America has never been and hopefully never will be a Democracy.  America is a Constitutional Republic, which is what The Founders intended.  The Founders were pretty smart, though, and they left plenty of checks on governmental abuse of power.  Moreover, The Founders had faith in The People, even if some people within our government don't.  We've suffered through far worse in our not-so-distant past than what we see going on now.

Re: To be hacked it seems that it does not matter

Louis you do realize that the hack was done by the Russians..
President Biden inherited a lot of intractable problems, but perhaps none is as disruptive as the cyber war between the United States and Russia simmering largely under the radar.

Russian spies went rummaging through the digital files of the U.S. departments of Justice, State, Treasury, Energy, and Commerce and for nine months had unfettered access to top-level communications, court documents, even nuclear secrets

Bank hacking is just been flagged on my accounts. Lucky for me I keep it really low to catch this early.
Now to go to the actual bank tomorrow to report what are invalid charges.
