These periods are about two Earth-weeks long. Data from the Apollo missions had already revealed that the moon's sunlit surface can climb to 260 degrees Fahrenheit (127 degrees Celsius) during the day, and drop to minus 280 F (minus 173 C) at night. But all of that data comes from the side of the moon that faces Earth. The new Chinese mission that landed on the "dark" (read: far) side of the moon on Jan. 3 has recorded even colder temperatures during the long lunar night.

The Chinese lander Chang'e 4 and its rover, Yutu 2 (Jade Rabbit 2), woke from dormant, power-saving modes at the end of January and beamed back data suggesting that temperatures there had plummeted to minus 310 F (minus 190 C), according to an Agence France-Presse report.

NASA Wants Help from Private Companies to Land Astronauts on the Moon by 2028

NASA is officially looking for ideas from private companies to develop future lunar technologies, with responses due by the end of next month.
In addition, the agency published its methodology for bringing crewed missions back to the lunar surface.
The moon has had a big 2019 so far: China's Chang'e-4 lander mission achieved the first soft landing on the far side of the moon at the start of January. Then, millions of people across North and South America enjoyed a mesmerizing lunar eclipse, dubbed the Super Blood Wolf Moon, on Jan. 21. This year, NASA is also commemorating a major lunar milestone: The agency will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Apollo 11 mission that brought astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon to take that incredible "giant leap for mankind." I went looking and broke these posts out to make a topic for Chang'e 4 lander, rover.
Chang'e 4 lander, rover resume work on moon

The Yutu 2 rover activated at 4:26 am on Saturday and the lander activated just over 12 hours later, to resume work for their 27th lunar day on the far side of the moon.

Which lasts in which a lunar day or lunar night is equal to about 14 days on Earth, and the solar-powered probe switches to dormant mode during the lunar night. Sweltering by day and freezing by night but the way it was designed its able to survive.

The route Yutu-2 is following to several craters exhibiting higher reflectivity.

Yutu 2 has traveled about 628.5 meters on the far side of the moon. It is now about 430 meters northwest of the landing site.

Despite the numbering, the first of these missions could be Chang'e-7, which will, in the words of Wu Yanhua, vice administrator of the China National Space Administration (CNSA), attempt comprehensive exploration of the lunar South Pole, including analysis of topography, composition and the space environment.
Just as Chang'e-3 had a backup in Chang'e-4, a successful Chang'e-5 mission will mean Chang'e-6 would then be similarly repurposed for a more ambitious sample return mission, targeting either the lunar far side or south pole.
Chang'e-8 would then carry on the work of Chang'e-7 and additionally seek to test key technologies, such as 3D printing, with a view to establishing a what is being loosely described as a 'robotic research base' at the south pole, involving other countries—likely similar conceptually to ESA's 'Moon Village' concept."

This year in May, Chang'e-6 aims to achieve humanity's first lunar far-side sample return, planning to launch aboard the Long March 5 rocket. The primary landing and sampling site is targeted at approximately 43°S, 154°W on the lunar far side.

Equipped with a radioisotope heater unit (RHU) in order to heat their subsystems during the long lunar nights, while electrical power is generated by solar panels, lander and rover design was modeled after previous missions. The Lander has Low Frequency Spectrometer (LFS) to research solar radio bursts at frequencies between 0.1 and 40 MHz and to study the lunar ionosphere, Lunar Lander Neutrons and Dosimetry (LND), a (neutron) dosimeter developed by Kiel University in Germany, there were previous reports the Rover carried a biosphere ecosystem with cottonseed, a flowering plant, yeast and fruit fly eggs inside an offworld Closed-Ecological-System but this was contained in the Lander not the Rover.
