Well at least your not writing about Plutonian Eskimos.  It's a start I guess.

Re: Just to start a topic :) - stuff

Pagan, I wish there were a lot more 17 year-olds who like space!   Somebody has to drive the rovers, build the colonies, etc.  My son will be your age if the ten year timeline holds, so do me a favor and be on Mars first so I can tell him "See, my buddy Pagan is up there, why not go give him some help?"

If you're all interested in mars and space exploration, check out the International Space Settlement Design Competition. The ISSDC is a competition that will help you to learn about space, as well as test your creativity and teamwork skills. For more details, Contact the Executive Director of the International League of Students at ILSDirector@aol.com

Also...check under the category 'Educational Outreach'

Re: Just to start a topic :) - stuff

Let's not get too carried away with "I want to be a spaceman when I grow up" syndrome.  We still need scientists to develop the propulsion, life support, and transportation (to name a few) back here on Earth!  :0

PS  CALTECH FOOTBALL WOULD CRUSH MIT ANY DAY!!! big_smile

PSS  If you go to MIT's NSL page, those nuclear scientists need directions to use the copier.  Not so at CalTech!  wink

Hey, maybe you whipper-snappers can help me.  Everyone has a "Membership Level" next to their name...
How do I get my stars?  Is it determined by the number of posts?

Re: Just to start a topic :) - stuff

more stuff is available in the educational outreach section again...

Anyways, I am now a 17 year old going-to be senior in high school who is passionate about space exploration, and is quite competitive, especially in competitions dealing with space settlements or such.

Re: Just to start a topic :) - stuff

I am finding these posts very interesting.

I'm 18, am homeschooled, have wanted to go to space for as long as I can remember, and both of my parents are linguists and science teachers.

I agree with this statement and think a few of the posts on war ought to have had some definitions looked up before making fools of themselves.  (war, peace, murder, killing, democracy, republic, pledge of alliegance)

For dapjaict ...

Your Member label shows From: Burkina Faso

This topic is one of the chat topics, so it is possible to ask if you would say a bit about the country?  I see from Google it is above Ghana, and below Mali.

Is there a web site you would recommend to learn about the country?

Your post #20 above appears to be about telescopes and photography?

SpaceNut ... this topic appears to be from the earlier version of the Forum.  The right side appears to be truncated. Is it possible to adjust that? Thanks! (th)
