Potential battery breakthrough?
Lithium CO2 could be 7 times more energy dense than ordinary lithium batteries, providing possibly 1800 watts per kg of storage.

No idea how credible this is but it is from a respected university...and seems to have aroused a lot of interest. ]
It would make night storage of solar power economic, assuming a similar cost profile per kg compared to current lithium batteries.

Have heard of zinc air batteries in the past so other metals would be possible. Not sure of who well it might work.
Thats were actual papers and research must be had to gain knowledge.

The chemical reactions are what you look to for how the battery will respond to chaging and discharging under normal operations. Its using co3 with the O changing places in the chemistry to produce the charge change while in use.

While lithium-ion batteries use graphite as an electrode, the StoreDot battery works faster by replacing graphite with semiconductor nanoparticles that allow ions to pass more easily and quickly. The company expects to replace this electrode with silicon, a much cheaper component, by the end of the year.
Tesla is also working on developing silicon electrodes.

The main issue is unless we find more lithium deposits we do not after much analysis by kbd512 that we do not have enough to make the storage batteries that we need no matter what the second material is.
