SpaceNut,
A lot of the bot accounts spreading disinformation about COVID-19 are from Russia and China, according to Dr. Kathleen Carley (the person who runs the center that published the report you indirectly linked to). The Russian bots appear to be trying to drive a wedge between the US and the EU / NATO and the Chinese bots appear to be promoting socialism.
It seems like you're complaining that social media is being used to spread disinformation like the mainstream media does, such as your beloved Russia collusion hoax. Clapper, Brennan, and Comey all testified under oath that they had absolutely no evidence to support the Russian collusion hoax that the Democrat politicians and their lackeys in the mainstream media peddled to the American people. That's a very interesting 180, wouldn't you say?
As someone who's spent the past 4 years help to spreading that disinformation, you should be looking in the mirror when you complain about the lack of fact-based information. It's all too easy to get ideologues to spread disinformation that agrees with their ideology, isn't it?
I'll tell you what, though. If you don't think we need to reopen the economy to feed our people, then you can sit on your hands and watch the rest of us work.

A Twitter hacking scheme that targeted political, corporate and cultural elites this week began with a teasing message between two hackers late Tuesday on the online messaging platform Discord.

For SpaceNut re Twitter employee sabotage report ... (#80)
Thanks for that report. It makes perfect sense, because other reports I've heard/read indicate the master accounts at Twitter were accessed.
The reports I heard/read were that "social engineering" was used to gain access to the accounts. That would have been a lot easier if the activity were carried out by an employee in a position to capture the login keystrokes of someone entrusted with the master accounts.

Personal information of roughly 46,000 veterans exposed in VA hack including Social Security numbers, exposed in a data breach in which "unauthorized users" gained access to an online application used for making health care payments.
social engineering techniques and exploiting authentication protocols
"To protect these Veterans, the FSC is alerting the affected individuals, including the next-of-kin of those who are deceased, of the potential risk to their personal information. The department is also offering access to credit monitoring services, at no cost, to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised,"
Junk since they will be hacked again and again at other websites and none of it changes a thing....

SpaceNut,
Nothing will ever change. My information was taken from the VA twice, once in 2009 and then again in 2012 or thereabouts. You receive a nice letter informing you that the VA is incompetent, not that I needed any confirmation of that, that they're not doing anything to help you with issue they've caused, and that they have no idea who stole your SSN, home address, and other personal info, or for what purpose. They'll conduct another investigation where they don't find themselves at fault.

It appears that we have many that do not know what hackers can do which now includes White House National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien...
Russian hackers can’t change your vote, says top White House security adviser
The data that was stolen from 2016 has lead to emails and other such acts coming from the hackers. They can an are capable of changing the code for vote counting, identification of votes from the machines or from ballot cards or punch readers if these are not stand alone.

Here we go again as Russian Hackers Broke Into Federal Agencies, U.S. Officials Suspect
The Commerce Department acknowledged that one of its agencies had been affected, without naming it. But it appeared to be the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, which helps determine policy for internet-related issues, including setting standards and blocking imports and exports of technology that is considered a national security risk.
The motive for the attack on the agency and the Treasury Department remains elusive, two people familiar with the matter said. One government official said it was too soon to tell how damaging the attacks were and how much material was lost, but according to several corporate officials, the attacks had been underway as early as this spring, meaning they continued undetected through months of the pandemic and the election season.

SpaceNut,
You might want to ask yourself why a country with the most sophisticated intelligence and monitoring apparatus on the planet is subject to incessant hacking attacks. How is it that we spend so much money on outfits like the NSA, yet we can't secure our own networks from intrusions? That's just one more thing that should make you go, "hmm..."

We are not the only ones to be targetted by the Trumpian freinds as Cyberattack 'Leaves U.K. Infrastructure Exposed for Month' and yes we paid to much for the dummies to protect our nation from them...
The U.S. government spent billions on a system for detecting hacks. The Russians outsmarted it.
When Russian hackers first slipped their digital Trojan horses into federal government computer systems, probably sometime in the spring, they sat dormant for days, doing nothing but hiding. Then the malicious code sprang into action and began communicating with the outside world.
At that moment — when the Russian malware began sending transmissions from federal servers to command-and-control computers operated by the hackers — an opportunity for detection arose, much as human spies behind enemy lines are particularly vulnerable when they radio home to report what they’ve found.
Why then, when computer networks at the State Department and other federal agencies started signaling to Russian servers, did nobody in the U.S. government notice that something odd was afoot?
The answer is part Russian skill, part federal government blind spot.
Gee the blinking lights didn't give it away...

SpaceNut,
Those "dummies", as you put it, are all in for President Biden. He hired people who worked at all those "national defense" and "intelligence agencies". While you're tilting at windmills with your Russian collusion narrative, China is an actual military and economic threat. Italy isn't a military or economic threat to America, therefore, neither is Russia.

President Donald Trump has yet to comment on the attack while the FBI scrambles to assess damage from Russia-linked
US government hack is investigating and gathering intelligence in order to attribute, pursue, and disrupt the responsible threat actors Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is the lead agency in helping secure companies and agencies affected.
The intrusion involves software from SolarWinds, which makes IT management tools, that had been adulterated or “Trojanized” with a vulnerability that could be exploited by hackers to steal information, manipulate systems or plant trap doors and other exploits for future use.
SolarWinds said as many as 18,000 organizations including unclassified federal government networks and 425 Fortune 500 companies could have downloaded the malicious software, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
SolarWinds Hack May be Tip of Iceberg, Evidence of Multiple Hacks Found
"This adversary has demonstrated an ability to exploit software supply chains and shown significant knowledge of Windows networks," the statement continued. "It is likely that the adversary has additional initial access vectors and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) that have not yet been discovered. CISA will continue to update this Alert and the corresponding indicators of compromise (IOCs) as new information becomes available."
SolarWinds, the affected software company, is used by all five branches of the U.S. military, Norton noted that no evidence of illicit entry to the DODIN has yet been detected.

SpaceNut,
Just remember that we have billions of dollars allocated to purchase more absurdly expensive war machines we can't use against an actual enemy with capabilities necessitating their use, but we can't pay for decent network security to prevent crap like this from happening. I'm starting to wonder if we have any secrets left, or if China, Russia, Iran, or others know more about us that we do about ourselves.
