Re: Martian Calender - I have created a martian calender...

Nearly 2/3 the way around the orbital path.
We are still pinning hope of Nasa huge rocket and Space x BFR/Starship combination rather than building on the success of Dragon/Falcon 9 plus the heavy launch system to make the first steps to the moon and then with orbital build onward to mars.
We really do not need to go beyond that when you use the Habitat spaces and many other things borrowed in design from the ISS current state to build that ship for Mars.
The gateway to the moon is just a smaller version of what is needed for Mars.
We recently mark an Important holiday for the US but we need to start making those holidays be about Mars if we are to leave behind the problems one day.
Mars seems so far off when we allow others to pay for the ships and systems that do not target man getting there but something else as the priority.

Re: Martian Calender - I have created a martian calender...

This is for SpaceNut re events on Mars .... the daily report shows that the rate of approach to the Sun by Mars is decreasing.  Meanwhile the rate of movement along the orbit remains high, in the range of .6 to .7.  These reports are consistent with the approach of Summer on Mars, and indeed, it appears that the Curiosity rover has been prepared to begin a new 1 mile trek of exploration.

Per Google:

The rover is still operational, and as of July 7, 2020, Curiosity has been on the planet Mars for 2815 sols (2892 total days) since landing on August 6th, 2012. (See current status.)

If you find the story about the new mission, I'd appreciate your posting it.  I saw it yesterday but didn't record it, and couldn't find it this morning.

Sol 462 is Monday in the Proposed calendar for Mars.

The Next New Year's on Mars will occur when Solar Longitude reaches 360 degrees.
The next Skip Day will occur in August on Earth. A Skip Day occurs when the longer Mars Sol reaches 24 Earth hours.
For those who may be following this proposed calendar closely, there exists a "feature" I had not anticipated.
Days of the week fall behind Earth due to the longer Sol, but they gain when Friday is omitted at the end of a Quarter

Edit#1 on 2020/07/24: Mars is rapidly approaching perihelion.  The web site above shows the position of Mars as it moves along its orbit. Meanwhile, the notes recorded from the LiveSky site show that the rate of approach of Mars to the Sun is decreasing, and the French web site shows that Mars is moving rapidly along its orbit.

August 3, 2020
Mars' perihelion is a once-in-two-Earth-years event. Mars came to perihelion last on October 29, 2016. Its next perihelion will be August 3, 2020. None of the planets have exactly circular orbits, but most, like Earth, have orbits around the sun that are nearly circular.Sep 16, 2018
