Searching for life signals and signs

There was for a while the means to listen and send signals in search of advanced life in other solar systems. We finally have the means to see these planets circling the far off stars.

The Repeating Signals From Deep Space Are Extremely Unlikely to Be Aliens.

The weird, repeating signals from deep space just tripled Fast radio bursts are getting more attention from scientists, who can now detect more of them. Astronomers Have Tracked a Repeating Radio Signal Across Space to an Unexpected Origin A mysterious repeating radio signal from space revealed last year is now the fifth fast radio burst to be tracked back to its source galaxy.

The Very Large Array will search for evidence of extraterrestrial life
The Very Large Array (VLA) is a collection of 27 radio antennas located at the NRAO site in Socorro, New Mexico. Each antenna in the array measures 25 meters (82 feet) in diameter and weighs about 230 tons.

For SpaceNut re #1

I reposted your VLA announcement on a SETI forum.  To my surprise, no one else had posted the announcement.

Maybe too hot for Extremeophiles?

WASP-96 is an G-type main-sequence star., orbiting this star is WASP-96b is a gas giant exoplanet. Its mass is 0.48 Jupiters. It is 0.0453 AU from the class G star WASP-96, which it orbits every 3.4 days. It is about 1120 light-years away from Earth, in the constellation Phoenix. It was discovered in 2013 by the Wide Angle Search for Planets (WASP). WASP-96b's spectrum is one of the items featured in the initial science release from the James Webb Space Telescope. The spectrum confirmed the presence of water, as well as providing evidence for "clouds and hazes" within the planet's atmosphere. Prior to this discovery, WASP-96b was thought to be free of clouds Hot The hot Jupiter planet orbits the star WASP-96 every 3.42526 days.

Re: Searching for life signals and signs

Researchers are disputing China’s fleeting claim that it detected extraterrestrial signals from the world’s largest telescope. It's not the first of such signals detected but they need more study.

James Webb Space Telescope sniffs out carbon dioxide around an alien world

https://www.space.com/james-webb-space- … on-dioxide

The NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope has found definitive evidence for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of a gas giant planet orbiting a Sun-like star 700 light-years away. The result provides important insights into the composition and formation of the planet, and is indicative of Webb’s ability to also detect and measure carbon dioxide in the thinner atmospheres of smaller rocky planets.

WASP-39 b is a hot gas giant with a mass roughly one quarter that of Jupiter (about the same as Saturn) and a diameter 1.3 times that of Jupiter. Its extreme puffiness is related in part to its high temperature (about 900 °C). Unlike the cooler, more compact gas giants in our Solar System, WASP-39 b orbits very close to its host star – only about one eighth of the distance between the Sun and Mercury – completing one circuit in just over four Earth-days. The planet’s discovery, reported in 2011, was based on ground-based detections of the subtle, periodic dimming of light from its host star as the planet transits, or passes in front of the star.
