It looks like President Trump has requested funding for a human-rated lunar landing system under the Artemis Program. That hasn't been part of NASA's budget authorization since the Apollo Program. Keep your fingers crossed.

A positive development. One thing that is disappointing is the failure of NASA to integrate private industry into their plans, specifically Musk and Bezos rockets. Surely, its time to drop the SLS and contract SpaceX to provide delivery services. The lunar budget can then concentrate on developing other hardware.

Calliban,
SpaceX and Blue Origin are two of the contractors submitting bids for the HLS. I'd imagine that they'd use their own rockets to deliver their own hardware, but we'll see.

So far the only oar in the fray is the Blue Lunar lander as space x only wants to launch with BFR....
Its even dropped its lunar flyby with the dual Falconheavy...
Trump is wanting to throw cash at this problem and its not going to fix the issue...

Boeing gave a sales pitch a few months ago for the SLS in that it could launch in the old apollo era a lunar lander.
