'Battle of the Baggage Claim': Trump's 1775 airport claim inspires parodies

Donald Trump’s unusual claim during his Fourth of July speech that the US revolutionary army of 1775 “took over airports” from the British a full 128 years ahead of the Wright brothers’ first flight has spurred a slew of memes.

Re: Politics

Four Democratic congresswomen of color who Mr. Trump told to "go back" to their original countries in a racist tweet one is black, one is Hispanic and two are Muslim. All are American citizens, and three were born here. That did not matters as the crowd erupted into chants of "send her back," at a Trump rally in North Carolina Wednesday after the president renewed his attacks on four Democratic freshman congresswomen. You would think that he would know better. As the chant was “ugly, wrong, & would send chills down the spines of our Founding Fathers. This ugliness must end, or we risk our great union.

President Trump took a lot of heat from his own family over the racist chants at a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina. He heard from first lady Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka and Vice President Mike Pence.

Of course the back walking and reinterpretation of what he said and what he meant is what he has always done. Some in GOP criticize ‘send her back’ chant, but not Trump which is not the way to make America Great.

Re: Politics

"racist tweet"

A tweet thread, actually. In which he said that if they don't like America, they are free to leave. Not exactly racist - people have (rightly) said the same about Piers Morgan when he's been critical of America in the past.

Re: Politics

The ugly part was "go back where you came from".  The racist part is that his targets were all non-white.

That second part is inherently colored by the deliberate mismanagement of events on the southern border.  Atrocities are being committed upon helpless migrants to create the fear reaction that might deter others from coming.

Question:  how is that use-of-mistreatment-to-inspire-fear not terrorism?

Beyond that,  the deportation raids by ICE are also really intended to inspire fear in all non-citizens.  The proof of that interpretation is that the raids were publicized widely before they started.  Any agency actually wanting to catch real wrongdoers would keep their operation secret until completed.  But there is no terror inspired unless your victims know you will be coming.

Same question:  how is misuse of a police force to inspire fear not terrorism?

Another question:  is not misuse of government resources and agencies to create terrorism a "high crime and misdemeanor" worthy of impeachment?

If not,  then please explain to me how these things are in any significant way different from how the SS and Gestapo were used for terrorism purposes 70-80 years ago.

Those who refuse to learn from history really are doomed to more-or-less repeat it.  Trouble is,  they drag the rest of us down with them.

The quote you cited reminds me of this. I realize it's not perfectly applicable to the situation you describe. But unless you're indigenous, you or your ancestors are immigrants.

Apparently someone is not believing Trump and is listening to what the CIA , FBI and Mueller has been saying using his free speech artistry to show it.

For SpaceNut re #1457 ...

According to this morning's news, the individual responsible for posting the Russian Puppet image on the wall behind the speaker at the Young Republican event has been let go.  Apparently the mistake was "innocent" in the sense that the person was just looking for interesting images, but there is reported to be at least one person who thinks this was a conspiracy.  I think this was simply an example of youthful ignorance, and the perpetrator will (no doubt) have gained useful experience which the person will bring to the next responsibility the person may (?possibly) be given?

Re: Politics

So of a crap storm after Trumps Baltimore Elijah Cummings city twitter attack was a rat and rodent-infested mess ...Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson visited Baltimore on Wednesday morning to discuss opportunity zones in the city. His visit comes after the president's recent negative tweets about Baltimore and to discuss what can be done for the area opportunity zones and federal programs that might help Baltimore revitalize its poorest communities.. But do not look at what Trump 'rodent' tweets ring true at Kushner-owned apartments

Davon Jones doesn't have to look far to see the irony in President Donald Trump's tweets that Baltimore is a "rat and rodent infested mess." His apartment owned by the president's son-in-law has been invaded by mice since he moved in a year ago.

"I don't know how they come in," Jones says. "Every time I catch them, they come right back."

Jared Kushner's family real estate firm owns thousands of apartments and townhomes in the Baltimore area, and some have been criticized for the same kind of disrepair and neglect that the president has accused local leaders of failing to address. Residents have complained about mold, bedbugs, leaks and, yes, mice — plenty of mice. And they say management appears in no hurry to fix the problems.

"They don't care," says Dezmond James, who says he has spotted as many as three mice a week since he moved in to the Commons at White Marsh in suburban Middle River four years ago.

Re: Politics

Robert,

Mexico has about double the number of homicides per year as in the US and Brazil has nearly quadruple our homicide rate.  Mexico set a record in 2018 regarding the number of homicide investigations opened by La Policia, at 33,341, as did Brazil at 63,800.  Meanwhile, back in gun-happy America our homicide rates continue to decline and amounted to about 1/3rd of Brazil's homicide by firearm rate- in a country with more guns than people.  Maybe the Mexicans and Brazilians just hack each other apart down there with machetes instead of shooting each other, but even I know that's a bunch of BS.  In regressive ideology, I guess being cut up into little pieces and dangled off a highway overpass is preferable to being shot.  That said, counting was never a strong suit of our regressives.

NPR Opinion: Brazil's High Murder Rate Could Get Even Worse If Gun Laws Are Relaxed by Robert Muggah

Many pro-gun arguments rely on sensationalist anecdotes rather than scientific facts. The truth is that robust firearm laws, when enforced, can help deny access to guns to people who should not have them.

Many people who aren't completely brain dead morons realize that people claiming to be "progressives" or "Democrats" have no intention of ever enforcing the laws, seeing as how they're generally the first to ignore the laws whenever it's politically convenient.  The evidence would be all those bodies you see piling up in regressive Democrat-run cities, both here in America and abroad.

The debate today is not whether or not there ought to be rules to regulate firearms, but rather how comprehensive they should be. This is the minimum to ask of citizens who, ultimately, have the privilege — and not the right — to own firearms.

No, dingbat, firearms ownership is not a privilege in America.  Nice try, though.  If it is, then freedom of speech is also a privilege.  Here in America, our regressives have tried and gloriously failed to regulate both out of existence.

Brazil already registers among the highest per-capita homicide rates in the world and features the largest absolute number of gun deaths on the planet.

No derp, Sir Derps-a-lot.  And yet, they also have some of the most stringent "gun control" laws on the planet.  How did that work out?  Oh right, we already know the answer to that since you told us.  If it's a crime to have a gun, then only the criminals will have guns.  Surprise!  Not.

This has long been rumorred that Jeffrey Epstein and his close associate ordered a teenage girl to have sex with several high-powered men, including former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and former Maine Sen. George Mitchell, according to a deposition from the girl released Friday.
Such was also said to have been with Trump a simular situation....

Jeffrey Epstein is dead. But the criminal investigation that led to the sex-trafficking charges against him is not.

The stories of suicide are not adding up as personal ties of Attorney General William Barr and alleged sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, who reportedly committed suicide in jail.

NYT columnist: Epstein claimed to have damaging information on powerful people

Epstein was awaiting trial on allegations that he trafficked dozens of minors for sex. He previously accepted a plea deal in 2008 over similar accusations of soliciting sex from underage girls that landed him on the sex offender registry.

Re: Politics

I would start looking at the Clintons again, since Epstein had a picture of Bill Clinton in his office.

Yes, I'm quite certain William Barr had many personal ties to Jeffrey Epstein, which is why he's launching an investigation into finding out how it is that the man died in custody.  When you have personal ties into someone who died that you're trying to hide, launching an investigation into that person to deflect attention away from yourself works quite well.  If you actually believe that, then ask Hillary Clinton / James Comey / Andrew McCabe how well that went for the Obama administration.

The regressive Democrat-run media claims are getting nuttier by the day.  Pretty soon, nobody is going to be able to keep all of their lies straight.  I know I can't, which is why I quit watching.

Cohen claimed to have damaging information on President Trump, too.  He's now in federal prison.  If he had anything at all, we'd already know about it.

I guess the unions are supporting President Trump now after wasting so much time and effort backing the Democrats.  I guess they got tired of having Democrats make promises of economic prosperity for votes and then fail to deliver anything at all.  The Republicans used to whine about this incessantly and the Democrats ignored them, so it's hilarious that the shoe is now on the other foot.

The leaving of office for whom is elected seems to have history as Trump’s takeover of GOP forces many House Republicans to head for the exits

41 House Republicans have left national politics or announced they won’t seek reelection in the nearly three years since Trump took office. That dwarfs the 25 Democrats who retired in the first four years of former president Barack Obama’s tenure

The calls for impeachment are getting louder as a result of the calls to the ukrane with regards to a person that was not in official capacity and is just a relative to a past vice president. The person I believe has since passed. Some have considered the attempts to gain dirt to sway the possible election to be a violation of law. Which is being called treason by some really out there characters...
Trump says he didn't dangle aid to Ukraine in exchange for Biden probe

Trump versus the whistleblower whose complaint set off the scramble to learn more about Trump’s phone call was using his position of power to pressure a foreign government into investigating the Bidens — as a “witch hunt.”

Not once but two red-alarm letters to the congressional intelligence committees — flagging the whistleblower’s complaint and outlining why it “relates to one of the most significant and important” of the DNI’s responsibilities...

Re: Politics

SpaceNut,

Whenever our Democrats might be exposed for the hooligans they truly are, that's when the caterwauling to distract from their own blatant criminality becomes loudest.  Joe was busy bragging about blackmailing a foreign government when a prosecutor in that government was investigating the criminal activities of the company his son was involved with, in public no less, so he's getting exactly what he deserves.  That said, it does beg the question of why former President Obama's Justice Department never investigated all the criminal behavior his underlings were involved in.  I guess there wouldn't be anyone left to run our government into the ground if he did that.

The Mueller investigation uncovered a tax cheat who cheated on his taxes about a decade before he even knew President Trump, a corrupt liar / lawyer / what's the difference, and a couple other people who said or didn't say something that they did or didn't do.  Former Vice President Biden was bragging about blackmailing a foreign government to prevent that little criminal he sired from being investigated by the Ukrainian government for corruption.  Nah, nothing to see there.  Everyone move along.  President Trump supposedly paid a few tens of thousands of dollars to some hooker.  Former Vice President Biden said he wasn't going to give the Ukrainians a billion dollars in aid to fight the Russians after they were invaded by the Russians because someone was investigating his son.

Trump's White House:
someone lied to get a bank loan (jailed)
someone didn't pay his taxes (jailed)
someone lied about what he said (jailed)
someone lied about what he didn't say (jailed)

Obama's White House:
someone didn't pay his taxes (he was forced to pay them before assuming command of the Federal Reserve)
someone used the IRS to go after political enemies (which they then refused to answer questions about)
someone in his own federal government died after his Justice Department sold guns to drug cartel members (which they refused to answer question about)
several someones died in Benghazi, probably selling guns to terrorists (which they then lied about)
someone sold our nuclear material to those evil Russians (which they then did absolutely nothing about after receiving information about the crime from their own informant)
someone stole classified information from our government (which she then lied about and then tried and failed to destroy the evidence of)
someone gave billions of dollars to a state sponsor of terrorism (which they shockingly told the truth about, and then nothing happened)

Yeah, bubba, I'm really liking President Trump's administration.  Someone lies or commits a crime and they actually go to jail.  All the people who lied and committed crimes under former President Obama's administration are still flying around on their private jets and stealing money from people gullible enough to believe they give a crap about them.  No wonder Democrats think Americans are stupid.

Re: Politics

The actions of the Trump presidency have revealed the dishonorable fact of the president’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces formal impeachment inquiry of Trump. President Trump admitted that he asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden and his son, Hunter for his gain.
President Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine while he was requesting political favors from its new president. That’s what’s so outrageous about Trump’s alleged push to get dirt on his potential 2020 rival, former vice president Joe Biden, in a July 25 phone call with newly elected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he was not provided an explanation for why the Trump administration held up aid to Ukraine when he pressed senior officials on the matter over the summer.

Re: Politics

SpaceNut,

The Democrats betrayed their oaths of office when they decided to put their petty political maneuvering ahead of the American People.  They always place their anti-social agendas ahead of the people who voted for them, everyone else who didn't, and our country.

The Democrats betrayed our national security when they sold guns to drug cartel members, ignored terrorist groups that were busily attacking our allies and our troops, sold our Uranium to the Russians- a hostile foreign adversary under President Putin, sent plane loads of cash to Iran- a state sponsor of terrorism, allowed one of our foreign diplomats to be murdered in Benghazi by refusing pleas for help, allowed our former Secretary of State to take classified information off of government servers and place it in her own private E-mail server- where it was subsequently extracted by a number of foreign governments, and also permitted our Vice President to shake down the Ukrainians for money after they were invaded by the Russians.  I could go on at length, but those are just some of the highlights from former President Obama's administration.  If the Democrats' actions or inactions in response don't represent national security threats, then I guess nothing qualifies.

The Democrats betrayed the integrity of our elections process when they tried to sell their fake Russian-collusion narrative to draw attention away from their own criminal behavior in conspiring with foreign governments to stage a coup against a duly-elected President.  That failed spectacularly.

As much as you and GW rant and rave against government corruption, why do you continue to carry water for these Democrat Party politi-criminals?

Belief that someone from the government will come along and solve all of your problems, if only you vote for the right person?

You don't actually believe that these politicians will ever give a crap about you or me or anything else except their ideology, merely because they have a "D" next to their names, do you?

Is there anything at all that the Democrats could ever do where you'd stop and think to yourself, "Well, gee whiz, I guess these people really don't have my best interests in mind after all."  Aside from walking away like President Trump did and deciding that your own country and its people are far more important than the tortuous regressive ideology, which nobody can define or agree upon with all of its twists and turns whenever the wind changes direction, that ultimately makes everyone, including them, completely miserable all of the time.

You know something, I've never seen you address all the obvious criminality that went on during the Obama administration.  You're either pretending that none of those things happened despite the mountains of evidence, take no issue with the blatant criminality as long as you personally like the ideology of the criminals who are committing the crimes, or possess the magical ability to pretend that history just started with President Trump's administration.  I actually think a bit of personal reflection on how we arrived here would be useful for everyone.

Re: Politics

SpaceNut,

Former Vice President Biden was bragging about his crimes in public, which is probably the only reason he was caught.  These criminals that Democrats vote for are the primary reason that President Trump is in office.  If you guys could just stop electing people who use their offices to enrich themselves, the rest of us could plausibly believe that you guys are actually serious about making communism / socialism work.  Until then, enjoy another four more years of President Trump.  Some of us are just fed up with the incessant lying, corruption, and blaming of the Republicans for the crimes being committed by the Democrats.  This latest foreign collusion narrative is already falling apart.  It's nothing but a pack of lies, just like the last one was.
