pedal for exercise pedal to do work

In some parts of our society we have become to reliant of electricity to always be there but when we go to mars that is going to be just as important as our health. If we must exercise then why not do something useful while doing so.

I remember that the desk that can go up an down seemed like it was something for just the rich but that was not its point as we were causing health issues by always sitting down all day.

Thats something that we do not want to do ans we do not that micro gravity is bad for man over long periods of time and we do not have a data point for what will be benificial.

Re: pedal for exercise pedal to do work

Pedaling is 97% efficient and even after the loss to charge batteries its still quite high.

This one was a bit of a surprise:

An average adult can use it to generate 100 watts of electricity, pump 5 gallons of water per minute, grind a variety of grains, as well as operate an air compressor, a hydraulic pump, most any hand-cranked machine, and a variety of small shop tools.
