The Raptor engines are designed to operate within very narrow range of mixtures. Carrying more methane would not be as severe a weight penalty as would using excess LOX, though. This would undoubtedly affect the thrust output favorably, since it's related to the mass and velocity of the exhaust gasses.

Apart from using the same base metal (Aluminum), CMC's and conventional alloys like 2195 (Aluminum Lithium) aren't related to each other. Their precipitates are different and their mechanical properties are markedly different.

I am wondering if the stage rings are for the building of the first stage which is a needed test element as soon as all of the test data is in for flight control and lift from the starship hopper.
