Re: Kavanaugh Supreme court Nomination

The GOP will rue the Kavanaugh confirmation

The combination of bad faith and procedural manipulation by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his allies during this process is unlikely to ever be forgotten by any Democrat currently breathing air as a sentient adult. Kavanaugh was a dreadful nominee from the word go, a lifelong partisan hack whose grubby, enthusiastically beer-crusted fingers were all over nearly every embarrassing national spectacle between the late 1990s and his ascension to the D.C. Court of Appeals in 2006, including The Starr Report, Bush v. Gore, and the widespread and illegal use of torture as part of the war on terror. Senate Republicans were so terrified of this sordid, extremely well-documented history that they refused to release the majority of Kavanaugh's long paper trail to the Senate Judiciary Committee, preferring instead an unprecedentedly opaque and rushed process designed to steward him to this very moment of narrow victory.

So denial of due process to use all the facts and that includes the FBI not being allowed to investigate all claims to the fullest. They were never meant to search for the truth. It was a charade meant to appear as a real investigation, with the purpose of giving Republicans a fig leaf to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court without paying a political price. The investigation and much of what has gone along with it amount to a cover-up. No serious observer would mistake it for an effort to ascertain what really happened on those occasions when Kavanaugh, according to his accusers, was drunk, aggressive and assaulted them. He has repeatedly denied all the allegations.

The there was this Trump on why he mocked Christine Blasey Ford: ‘I had to even the playing field’

Sounds like honesty is not something that the GOP believes in.

Susan Collins says she put herself 'in his shoes' when considering Brett Kavanaugh's temperament

She thought that he reacted with anger and anguish as a father of two young girls, a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old....

With Trump claiming that Dems have become "an angry, left-wing mob"....to get out there and votre to stop them from being able to have Kavanaugh and impeachment – Democrats, don’t try to conduct a revenge inquisition

Bernie Sanders was the only other candidate who wanted to do so, and he didn't get the nomination. All other candidates wanted to support the status-quo. American citizens will not tolerate the status quo, so they elected Trump. If Trump is the best that America can find to clean up the mess, what does that say about America?

There are pro-gun supporters who think the time to start a civil war against the government has already arrived. Bill Clinton sent Janet Reno to Waco Texas and Ruby Ridge to send a message to those "citizens militias". In both cases, what was done was against US federal law, Janet Reno should be in jail today, but Bill Clinton used his presidential authority to protect her. The message is if you think you can take up arms against your own government, you will be killed.

Now Kavanaugh. Are we watching the US break up? Some states have already toyed with succession.

I did hear the protests during the final vote and Pence call to orders as they continued calling names.

Disordely conduct for sure

There was also another reaction for that final vote that was withdrawn.

Pence and Murkowski have "lovely interaction" after her no vote on Kavanaugh

This "lovely" interaction stood in contrast with President Trump's comments about Murkowski, made to the Washington Post in an interview on Saturday afternoon:

One male protester screamed "You're a coward, Flake!" moments before Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Arizona, voted in favor of Kavanaugh which had set the investigation in motion but the FBI were not up to the task....

Some say that the confirmation will have an effect to the up coming votes.

Collin's vote as a result of Kavanaughs response to Roe Vs Wade but he lied....

Supreme Court 'will nullify' Roe v. Wade even if it doesn't 'overturn' it: Senate Dem

Kavanaugh may ultimately not be the guy to overturn Roe v. Wade. Maybe he is. It is not the opinion that Roe v. Wade shouldn’t be overturned – it is, in fact, a decision that extended the right of privacy into someone else’s, a child’s, life – but that Roe v. Wade continuing to exist doesn’t mean the fight is over. With more than likely with supreme court decisions to greatly weaken the right to abortion by allowing more state restrictions on it.

Democrat Manchin faces firestorm at home following Kavanaugh vote

Danielle Walker cried on Joe Manchin's shoulder after she shared her story of sexual assault in the senator's office. She thought he listened.

The 42-year-old Morgantown woman said she was both devastated and furious when Manchin became the only Democrat in the U.S. Senate to support President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

Trusting that they would do more than listen....

Kavanaugh accuser has been 're-victimized' since coming forward with story, of sexual misconduct said she is "disgusted and appalled" over criticism she has received from politicians and the media since coming forward with her story. "certain media 'pundits'" and politicians who have stated that she should have remained silent ahead of the confirmation hearing

Washington, D.C., resident Julie Swetnick, claimed in a sworn declaration released by her attorney, Michael Avenatti, that she witnessed a drunken Kavanaugh engaging in "highly inappropriate conduct" that included "fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent" during numerous house parties in the 1980s when Kavanaugh was in high school.

Swetnick also blasted the "audacity" of Republicans for claiming that her accusations were not credible despite not allowing "any investigation to determine their credibility."
"How can they say the claims were not credible when they made no effort to discover whether they were or not?" Swetnick asked.

Swift, 28, slammed Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn in an Instagram post.

Swift continued: "She voted against equal pay for women. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry."

News Anchor Resigns After Defending Brett Kavanaugh On Facebook

The veteran journalist took to Facebook to write a 400-word post defending Kavanaugh on Sept. 17, well before he was confirmed to the Supreme Court. The post has since been deleted.

“You are beyond dreaming if you think 17-year-old boys are not going to misbehave from time to time as they begin to attempt relationships with the opposite sex,” he wrote. “That is just the way animals are made!”

Poll: Negative views of Kavanaugh rise

Overall, 51% in the poll oppose Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court, up from 39% who opposed it in early September, after his initial confirmation hearing but before accusations of sexual misconduct emerged. Support for Kavanaugh's confirmation has merely inched up, by contrast, from 38% backing him in early September to 41% now. The CNN Poll was conducted by SSRS October 4 through 7 among a random national sample of 1,009 adults reached on landlines or cellphones by a live interviewer.

Re: Kavanaugh Supreme court Nomination

Science around trauma and memory shifting how police respond to victims
“The most common statement I get from police officers is: ‘Why didn’t we have this 10 years ago? I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career,’” said an expert.

For decades, many law enforcement officers believed victims were supposed to be able to recall all the details of their assault. If they didn’t — or couldn’t — their allegations must not be credible, the thinking went.

There is now the growing realization among police officers and others who encountered victims of sexual assault that they have long misread and mishandled those cases.

Behaviors and reactions to trauma that police are now learning to accommodate include fragmented memories, dissociation and a kind of involuntary paralysis known as “tonic immobility.”

Sounds firmilar...

Pointing to Trump’s assertion that it is “a very scary time for young men in America,” Tremblay said the president was implying that the “false report narrative — that myth — is real.”

“It is not,” he said. “There are no higher false report rates for sexual assault than any other crime.”

The voice.....not...

Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview, it focuses less on the information police traditionally sought from victims — the who, what, when, where, why and how of an assault — and instead seeks out what someone is able to remember, especially sense memories, Strand said.

For decades, many law enforcement officers believed victims were supposed to be able to recall all the details of their assault.

It doesn't help that a woman claimed just that in a Senate hearing. Apparently rape victims are supposed to be able to perfectly remember the face of their assailant, so if they can't, I guess that must mean that they're lying. Right?

We have some agitators who might want civil war, but I think America will just collapse from apathy before that happens, much like the Soviet Union did.  Regarding what Republicans think, if you can't see these black-clad village idiots running through our streets who are spending their free time looting and vandalizing and beating people up for what it is, which would be a rioting mob trying to enforce mob rule on everyone else, then nothing short of a shooting war would convince you that those people are a problem.  Many of them can't string together enough words to construct an English sentence, much less formulate coherent arguments to make their political points and provide reality-based solutions to the problems they think exist.  Personally, I think they're just over-privileged adult children who are now a menace to civilized society because they've been incited to violence by subversive college professors.

Gandhi understood the proper role and usage of civil disobedience to effect real change against real government-sponsored oppression.  The latest wave of socialist / communist / anarchist criminals who have been brainwashed in our universities by subversive "intelligentsia" are just street criminals who lack the intelligence required to find their own rear ends with both hands and a map.  I'm not sure precisely what they've been educated to do, but critical thought was never taught to them.  Until these leftists stop attacking people in the streets based on appearances (the dictionary definition of bigotry), suppressing free speech because they don't agree with it (the first edict of all totalitarian regimes after the means to resist has been removed), and generally behaving like street thugs (unless setting cars on fire and looting recently became an accepted form of protest), society needs to treat them according to their behavior (meaning arrest, try, convict, and incarcerate them, same as any garden variety street thugs).

There's lots of free speech I don't agree with, but my solution to that problem is more speech explaining why the previous speech was advocating for a really bad idea, rather than preventing the other person from expressing their thoughts and using violence or the threat of violence to suppress speech.  Only people who can't win arguments based upon the merits of their ideas do that and that's why I'll never support those who attempt to silence others.  The notion that one has such a better idea that they need not listen to the ideas of others is as old as grunting to communicate and every bit as primitive in nature.

Exactly.  Regarding "Why Trump?", it's because both the Democrats and Republicans didn't offer better alternatives.  I'm done with the status quo and so are a great number of Americans.  The status quo isn't working.  For all the BS about "fundamentally changing America", I couldn't see a dime's worth of difference between the policies of former Presidents Obama and Bush, except on social issues and the amount of money they squandered on trivial pursuits, mostly failed foreign invasions for former President Bush and failed domestic social experiments for former President Obama.

Many of us who are pro-gun were or are employed by our government and most of us have never entertained the idea of using an armed insurrection against our former or current employer as a means to effect political change.  If anything, most of us will sit on our hands and let the loony toons burn the place to the ground so they can exorcise their revenge for whatever perceived or actual slights they've experienced, hopefully killing each other off in the process or at least learning the error of their ways, so that there's merely a chance to rebuild a society that values its members more than the current crop of crazies do after they've had their fill of revenge.

Now Kavanaugh. Are we watching the US break up? Some states have already toyed with succession.

The Waco and Ruby Ridge debacles were about our government exercising their authority to murder the children of criminals who were supposedly victimizing their children to, you know, stop the victimization of the children.  Shooting unarmed pregnant women and running over toddlers with tanks has to be the most brilliant government plan yet devised for that purpose...  If you're a total psychopath.  As it pertains to any government of, by, and for the people, all of us should demand better.

In the case of the wacos at Waco, the Sheriff there had the balls and the brains required to get his not-so-friendly neighborhood child rapist and cult members to comply with Police instructions without resorting to killing them or their children, as he had done numerous times before.  Unfortunately, the evil clowns running the alphabet soup federal agencies prevented a good man, a real Police Officer- the very definition of a real Peace Officer, from doing his job to prevent needless carnage.

What does it say about our government when our local Sheriff walks right up to the door with only his deputy and his six shooter to talk to someone, but our federal government sends in little green men in infantry fighting vehicles?  Maybe, just maybe, some kind of disconnect there?  Anyway...  It's all ancient lore in a land full of people who are grossly ignorant of their own history.

It's a refreshing change of pace to hear Californians extolling the virtue of states' rights and watching leftists arm themselves with those evil black rifles that are only scary when one group of people is disarmed at the behest of another.  It's almost like they care about their constitutional rights just enough to try to deprive someone else of theirs.  Maybe one day they'll realize they're really not any better than any other person in America, or really all that different, and that will truly be a great day.  If you'd told me that would come to pass even five years ago, I'd have told you to stop being so stingy with whatever it is that you were smoking and to share it with the rest of us.  Anymore, I starting to think I'm crazy for thinking that sanity and basic human decency will ever be applied.

Anyway...  I'll continue to support our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and all the rest of our constitutional rights) knowing that support for equal protection under our laws is the best means to continue our Constitutional Republic (America is NOT a democracy, never has been, and hopefully never will be) and our own experimentation with democratic elections and as much freedom as we can reasonably have, foolish though it may appear to other eyes.

Note: Edited for spelling.

Re: Kavanaugh Supreme court Nomination

Belter,

SCOTUS decides what's constitutional and they have consistently upheld immigration law.  It would be to your benefit to read more of The Federalist Papers, as it pertains to our founders' views on immigration.

"The opinion advanced in the Notes on Virginia is undoubtedly correct, that foreigners will generally be apt to bring with them attachments to the persons they have left behind; to the country of their nativity, and to its particular customs and manners. They will also entertain opinions on government congenial with those under which they have lived; or, if they should be led hither from a preference to ours, how extremely unlikely is it that they will bring with them that temperate love of liberty, so essential to real republicanism? There may, as to particular individuals, and at particular times, be occasional exceptions to these remarks, yet such is the general rule. The influx of foreigners must, therefore, tend to produce a heterogeneous compound; to change and corrupt the national spirit; to complicate and confound public opinion; to introduce foreign propensities. In the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency.

The United States have already felt the evils of incorporating a large number of foreigners into their national mass; by promoting in different classes different predilections in favor of particular foreign nations, and antipathies against others, it has served very much to divide the community and to distract our councils. It has been often likely to compromise the interests of our own country in favor of another. The permanent effect of such a policy will be, that in times of great public danger there will be always a numerous body of men, of whom there may be just grounds of distrust; the suspicion alone will weaken the strength of the nation, but their force may be actually employed in assisting an invader."

Re: Kavanaugh Supreme court Nomination

Chief Justice Roberts tells crowd the Supreme Court works for 'one nation'

In his first remarks since the appointment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, John Roberts said that the Court would uphold its independence from political parties.

We will see after all the coaching if that will hold true....

John Roberts asks federal judges to handle Kavanaugh complaints against new Supreme CourtJustice Brett M. Kavanaugh to federal judges in Colorado and neighboring states.

The complaints deal with statements Kavanaugh made during his confirmation hearings. They were filed originally with Kavanaugh’s old court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Roberts took no action on them while Kavanaugh’s nomination was pending. He received the first three of 15 eventual complaints on Sept. 20, a week before Kavanaugh’s angry denial of a sexual assault allegation by Christine Blasey Ford.

It’s possible the complaints will never be investigated if the lower-court judges determine they have no jurisdiction over a Supreme Court justice under the judiciary’s ethics rules. The judges may be forced to conclude “that intervening events have rendered the allegations moot or make remedial action impossible...but others disagreed that the complaints are moot.

The truth was stepped on as it seems that a word can not be believed anymore so when reports by others say Kavanaugh accused of more unwanted sexual contact by former classmate

FBI officials told the newspaper that a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's, D.C.-based nonprofit owner Max Stier, said that he had witnessed Kavanaugh expose himself at a party before other students pushed Kavanaugh's genitals into the hand of a female student, apparently without her consent. The allegation is the latest to be made public in a list of accusations of unwanted sexual contact or sexual assault that Kavanaugh has faced since he was first nominated to the Supreme Court by President Trump. Kavanaugh has denied all of the allegations that he has faced

It would seem that Kavanaugh is not the kind of person that we really would want to see on the Supreme Court.  But,  that needs definite confirmation before attempting to remove him.

Same is true of Trump,  except that we already have confirmation he is not the type of person we want as our president.

GW,

Are you and SpaceNut busying yourselves with more fake news?

The story you're commenting on was a complete L-I-E.  As in, a total fabrication for purely partisan political purposes.  As in, the supposed victim said she had no memory of such an incident, as described in their reporting, ever happening.  She also stated that she wanted nothing to do with that Democrat propaganda agency that made that nonsense up.  Noam Chomsky, someone who is definitely not a supporter of President Trump, said that the New York Times is pure propaganda, long before President Trump was elected to office.  Given his line of work, he should know.

I'll tell you who we most certainly don't want in the Judiciary or the White House- lying thieving Democrats who make things up for partisan political purposes whenever the American people decide that their insane ideas are morally bankrupt and that they have nothing left to contribute to the American polity except inflicting their own misery on others.

By the way, since President Trump was elected to the White House, the American people did decide that that's who they wanted to be our President.

Obstructed from a propper investigation the freshman lawmaker criticized as "fundamentally flawed". Re: Kavanaugh Supreme court Nomination

Isn't disturbing that a President (Clinton) could have so many allegations against him? And that the allegations would essentially be suppressed by his friends in the media. Isn't it disturbing that the American media and publishing world showed virtually no interest in Obama's detailed past?  In contrast to all other Presidents, the only major "serious" biography of Obama appeared AFTER he left the Presidency! lol And even then it pulled a hundred punches.

Obstructed from a propper investigation the freshman lawmaker criticized as "fundamentally flawed". The FBI investigation and Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last September that examined an allegation of sexual assault against Kavanaugh ahead of his confirmation to the high court as it too had a narrow scope of whom could be there for evidence....
