A warning from Richard Dawkins

https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/2449b900-c … warns.html

Despite my own exceptionally bad experiences with Christianity (never again, thank you), I agree with Dawkins (haven't followed him closely ever, but know enough of the man that this statement surprised me).

Don't celebrate the (alleged) demise of Christianity in Europe for the reasons he stated.

Which isn't to say all folks of that other religion are bad; they aren't. I've worked with adherents to that religion. But there are very real and frightening current troubles within the religion itself, which Christianity has pretty much resolved.

Perhaps I am a fool.  Still, this reference then.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_Civilizations_

You might read that book by David P. Goldman, a Jew.

Interesting to me.

For the most part if I recall it reading it some time ago makes me fuzzy.

Greek Fall
Roman Fall
Arab deeply afraid of a fall, and in some cases so desperate that they do not obey rules of decency.

They are dangerous because they are a failing culture in the light of the west.

Why the Europeans are so stupid as to invite them in demonstrates their own arrogance and lack of understanding.

Actually: https://www.amazon.com/How-Civilization … B005O2PMYI

I did not say that, his book does.

One important point is that up until the 13th century Islam had a rational branch, but then it died.

The Islamic version of god according to D.P. Goldman now is irrational.  A Muslim according to him finds it easier to become an atheist, than a Christian.  That is probably because an atheist sees god as an irrational idea.  If David P. Goldman is right then the Islamic vision of god is irrational.  According to Goldman, their god could order them to worship idols at any time, and then that is how it should be then.

In their vision the god can recreate reality in every moment as the god wishes.  Chaos.  The Jewish and Christian god more created a universe and chooses to subject it goodness to the rules that the god established.

While many of them are very wise, and moral, it is my opinion that their worst members reveal that they desire for a lust in the afterlife when they seek a reward of virgins there.  They do not have an afterlife heaven I am told, rather an afterlife paradise.

But I could be misinformed.

I am only giving you the clues I puzzle over myself about the situation.  I do not claim it to  be authority.

Re: A warning from Richard Dawkins

Dawkins has been brave in saying this. Who knows how many dinner party invitations, honours, awards and funtime happenings he has foregone as a result?  Also, he has made himself a target in a Theo Van Gogh  sort of way. So I honour the guy for being brave.

On the other hand, he has been slow to the table...what was at stake was at least clear back when Rushdie was sentenced to death by the Ayatollahs for writing a book (and that sentence was backed by a huge proportion of UK Muslims). He chose to ignore the issue for 30 years.  But at least he has ended up making the right points. We don't have to care about religion, but we do have to care about how it impacts on us even if we are non-religious.

Re: A warning from Richard Dawkins

It's not just religion. Any ideology can be perverted by nasty leaders. Some are invented by nasty people, others by well meaning headcases, and are perverse from the start. The main difference is that religions incorporate non physical beings at their cores, whereas ideologies use other concepts like "the nation", or "the workers", or "the King". They all seem to move to excluding and demonising people who are not adherents( Jews, Capitalists, Republicans, Aristocrats, Foreigners). These people are blamed for whatever goes wrong or what the leader doesn't like, and are abused and often killed.

Indeed - social Darwinism was (is) also an appalling creed.

Politics of Self-Hate?

Buy Foreign not Local?

Xenophilia or xenophily is the love for, attraction to, or appreciation of foreign people, manners, customs, or cultures.
https://study.com/academy/lesson/what-i … hilia.html

Early 20th-century entomologists incorrectly concluded that the evolution of the glandular terminal disk was a function of xenophily, following its discovery in myrmecophilous larvae. George Washington, in his 1796 Farewell Address, described having allegiance to more than one nation as negative. Kent and Burnight state that feelings of xenocentrism are caused by three possible factors; individuals who have familial ties to a foreign country, specifically 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants, those who oppose the political choices of their native country. One example of this is the Communist Party USA. The party idealized the Soviet Union and its anti-capitalist government. As well as individuals who are exposed to other cultures and grow disenchanted with their society, and then rebel against it. This word remained obscure but considered useful and occasionally used by other sociologists. The University of Florida treats it as a key term of Sociology.

That dumb word Orientalism and Asiatic still used to describe the islamist mohammedan culture? When an islamo Somalia goes on a stabbing rampage or Boston bomber plants bombs is he exporting 'Orientalism' to America? Maria-Magdalena Pruss I did see that name before, globe trotter perhaps and is a disgusting self hating islamo-apologist xenophile who hates her own people and culture? or another of those old elite  Princeton University academic Sisterhood and Fraternity blackmail clubs?
‘Church of Islam’: esotericism, Orientalism, and religious origin myths in colonial South Asia. When Hindu Indians and people of Argentina and Nigeria and Thailand speak out against islamic attacks are these 'Eurocentric views'?

Is Musk religious, I think maybe a humanist? Musk once replied, “I don’t really worship anything, but I do devote myself to the advancement of humanity by using technology.” A semi-religious upbringing. “When I was a kid, oddly, my father was like, Anglican, Church of England,” he said. No prayers?. “I didn’t even pray when I almost died of malaria,” Musk once said. Elon Musk isn't against the idea of a higher power or God but also seems he is irreligious. A belief system could possibly be described as atheist at times or also agnostic as best. His only faith is in science, facts and math and in a systematic understanding of the universe

Dawkins.

He is British evolutionary biologist, ethologist and author, he features on media youtube and public debates, born in Kenya, traveled and read into history. During the Bush Neocon years he was a well known for his criticism of creationism and intelligent design,  describes evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. Dawkins is or was an outspoken atheist and critic of religion, his books been translated into 31 languages.
