SpaceNut,
Since those "tax cheats" were never prosecuted because they weren't cheating anyone out of anything and Lois Lerner was removed from her position at the IRS after refusing to answer questions from Congress, I think we all know who the guilty party is. Incidentally, former President Obama's NSA appointee also retired with benefits after he was caught sharing his classified schedule with that groupie he was banging instead of his wife. Why would those "tax cheats" answer questions in front of Congress if that would simply open them up to more opportunities for the Justice Department to prosecute them for lying to Congress?
TIGTA's findings from the Wikipedia article you linked to:
"The IRS used inappropriate criteria that identified for review Tea Party and other organizations applying for tax-exempt status based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention. Ineffective management: 1) allowed inappropriate criteria to be developed and stay in place for more than 18 months, 2) resulted in substantial delays in processing certain applications, and 3) allowed unnecessary information requests to be issued. Although the processing of some applications with potential significant political campaign intervention was started soon after receipt, no work was completed on the majority of these applications for 13 months.... For the 296 total political campaign intervention applications [reviewed in the audit] as of December 17, 2012, 108 had been approved, 28 were withdrawn by the applicant, none had been denied, and 160 were open from 206 to 1,138 calendar days (some for more than three years and crossing two election cycles).... Many organizations received requests for additional information from the IRS that included unnecessary, burdensome questions (e.g., lists of past and future donors)."
All those wordy words must confuse regressives. Do you ever find it difficult to reconcile the fact that even the links you provide don't support your opinion? If you don't like what our government says, do you just ignore it?
"We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we've got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure that they are removed from the IRS and the word goes out that this is unacceptable." - Claire McCaskill (Democrat) Missouri
I think Senator McCaskill said it best.
Selling guns to drug cartels and gang members is a federal crime, except when the feds do it, whereupon it becomes a "sting operation". Let me ask the question in a way that even a political partisan such as yourself should be able to figure out. If a member of our federal government sold guns to someone who then used them to murder your children, would you consider that criminal conduct, irrespective of whether or not anyone was ever prosecuted for it?
When former President Obama said that the election of President Trump was free and fair, was he lying, incompetent, or corrupt?
If he was lying about something as important as a free and fair election, then what else has he lied about?
If he was incompetent, then why would we want another incompetent Democrat as President?
If he was simply corrupt, then that doesn't support your agenda, does it?
If you can't answer that question about former President Obama's remarks about the last Presidential election, then maybe you're just a political partisan grasping at straws.

SpaceNut,
Jeetus and Cleetus from Arkansas who wanted to start a non-profit to claim to their fellow ignoramuses that "President Obammy is a Mooslim" are too stupid to spell money laundering, much less know how to actually do it. You may not like them and people in government may not like, but that doesn't make them criminals. Let that point sink in for a moment. You may utterly hate and detest someone because they don't share your ideology and that doesn't make them criminals.
Let's just assume that former President Obama was as incompetent at his job as you claim. Let's further assume that former Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, was so incompetent at her job that she didn't know that putting classified information on her home E-mail server was a crime or that giving American Uranium to the Russians was a bad idea. Why would I want another Democrat President who is incompetent or surrounded by people who are so incompetent that they end up doing things that would be illegal if any Republican did them?
Could you explain why you think our Constitution would ensure that only incompetent Democrats are elected to office?
Have you ever read our Constitution?
Did you read a different version?
I can assure you that there's nothing printed in the Constitution of the United States of America that will assure any such thing.
President Trump doesn't go to his staffers homes and watch how they treat their wives. I'm quite certain President Obama didn't, either. Presidents only care about how their staffers perform at work.
If President Trump farts, there will be a "news" story shortly thereafter that indicates it wasn't a proper fart or it didn't have the appropriate stench. The only "pattern" I see in all of this is politically motivated partisans smearing our President because they choose to substitute what goes on in their warped minds for observable reality.

If you're expecting me to defend the nonsense that went on in either the Bush or Obama administrations, that's not going to happen. I didn't vote for either of them.
The Democrats want to express their talking points (more lies) in their own memos because they can't stop lying now or everyone would recognize them for the frauds and liars that they truly are. They don't need President Trump's approval to lie to anyone, including law enforcement, about whatever they want.

The Russian colution is not a witch hunt after all as Friday’s indictment of a St. Petersburg-based “troll farm” and 13 Russian nationals should be seen as a limited slice of a comprehensive investigation that Mueller Still Investigating Possible Collusion, Source Says with the usual Trump: New Mueller indictments show campaign 'did nothing wrong' claim and with the passing days with more evidence of colusion the GOP cautious, Dems strident in reaction to new indictments...of course there are some Takeaways from Robert Mueller's indictment of Russian nationals who meddled in presidential election

SpaceNut,
I know this will come as a shock to you, but foreign nationals operating from foreign countries are not subject to our laws. America does not rule the world. There is also no such federal crime as "collusion". The Russians who were indicted were indicted for conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bank fraud, and "aggravated identity theft" (I guess it's possible that some people aren't aggravated when their identity is stolen).
According to the indictment, the Russians created an email address, allforusa@yahoo.com, to purport to be a US person in order to send out press releases in June 2016 for a "March for Trump" rally to New York media outlets.
The defendants allegedly used a Facebook account belonging to a fictitious person named Matt Skiber, posing as an American to contact a real US citizen to act as a recruiter for the rally, even offering money to print posters and buy a megaphone.
The advertisements weren't limited to Trump. They also allegedly purchased ads on Facebook to promote "Support Hillary. Save American Muslims" rally to allege Clinton was supporting Islamic law. They also allegedly bought ads to promote a "Down with Hillary" rally.
Wow! Those Russkies are some really devious SOB's. They created a fake E-mail address and then posted propaganda supporting both sides. According to the article, the grand total budget for these operations was a whopping $1.25M USD. President Trump's toilet seat cost more than that, but maybe in Russia a million bucks buys more than a 5 second TV ad. I think these are the same a-holes who send me messages about my rich long lost uncle in Nigeria wanting to send me a million dollars after I provide my bank account info to him.
The Clinton Foundation received $145M when former Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, signed off on the Uranium deal on behalf of Russia's state-owned and run RosAtom, but there's nothing to see there. These dimwits that spend a whole million dollars on ads that supported both Clinton and Trump must be where the action is at. No wonder we're so screwed. With idiots like that running the country, who needs to worry about what our enemies do?

Doesn't the US government fund opposition groups in certain countries, including possibly Russia? It damages America's standing in the world when they hypocritically complain about foreign meddling. Every country (except maybe a few microstates such as San Marino), especially the US, is doing it.
It also shows incredible disdain for the American people, who actually went to the polls and voted according to their own volition, without Dmitri holding a gun to their head. If the people can be swayed so easily by a few Facebook posts, we'd best give up on this whole election business. Let's not have another Presidential election, we'll just give it to the incumbent for life.

IN 2016 the US President (Obama) came over to the UK and intervened in probably the most important vote we've had in the last 40 years - our referendum on EU membership. Totally unwarranted interference. In fact, soon after his visit the polls started to swing towards the Leave option, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

You may also remember that President Trump said more than 3,000 things that were either misleading or totally false during his first year in office -- a rate of more than six mistruths a day
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/16/politics … index.html
“As I reflect upon the state of American democracy,” he told the Class of 2018, “I observe a growing crisis in ethics and integrity.”
“If our leaders seek to conceal the truth, or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom.”
Tillerson said it’s the responsibility of all Americans to recognize “what truth is and is not,” and “what a fact is and is not.” Citizens must also demand the country’s future be “fact-based, not based on wishful thinking, not hoped-for outcomes made in shallow promises, but with a clear-eyed view of the facts as they are and guided by the truth that will set us free to seek solutions to our most daunting challenges,”
Trump frequently distorts the truth, including about the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, which the president calls a “witch hunt.” He often refers to unflattering news coverage as “fake news,” a term that has been adopted by authoritarian and other populist leaders.

Trump Falsely Claims He 'Won' Russia Collusion Lawsuit
A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that a case against Trump’s campaign and former adviser Roger Stone could not proceed in a Washington, D.C. court. However, U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle stressed that her decision was based on technical grounds because the alleged actions were not significantly connected to Washington. She did not take a position on the merits of the claims.
"It bears emphasizing that this Court’s ruling is not based on a finding that there was no collusion between defendants and Russia during the 2016 presidential election," Huvelle wrote. "This is the wrong forum for plaintiffs’ lawsuit. The Court takes no position on the merits of plaintiffs’ claims.”
What’s more, the suit was not brought by the DNC, as Trump claimed. Rather, it was filed by two DNC donors, Eric Schoenberg and Roy Cockrum, as well as former DNC staffer Scott Comer. The suit claimed that the hacking of the DNC’s email systems invaded their privacy and inflicted emotional distress.
The Democratic National Committee did, though, file its own lawsuit against the Trump campaign in a Manhattan federal court in April. The suit names the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., as well as his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. It claims that the Trump campaign was a “willing and active” partner of Russia in its “brazen attack on American democracy."
"If the occupant of the Oval Office won't protect our democracy, Democrats will. It is our obligation to the American people," DNC Chairman Tom Perez said.
Close to 20,000 hacked emails from the DNC were published by WikiLeaks ahead of the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Ex-White House stenographer: Trump is ‘lying to the American people’
A White House stenographer says she resigned over the Trump administration's lack of respect for her office after President Trump reduced the roles of the White House position.
Becky Dorey-Stein, who worked as a stenographer for the White House during the second half of the Obama administration, told CNN's New Day on Wednesday that Trump's refusal to allow stenographers in the room for meetings and interviews with some journalists crossed a line.
"I quit because I couldn't be proud of where I worked anymore," Dorey-Stein said. "I felt like President Trump was lying to the American people, and also...not even trying to tell the truth. He wasn't even going the extra mile to have the stenographers in the room"
thats so you can lie and no one can say differently as there is no written record....

How to discredit those that are doing there jobs is to remove the security clearance when your the president and you think that they are against you.
President Donald Trump was considering revoking the security clearances of former top officials who've been critical of him..
The officials are former CIA and NSA director Gen. Michael Hayden, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former US ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
Former top officials often maintain security clearance in case they need to be consulted on various matters pertaining to national security.
Removed clearance does not silence the voice and does not remove the reason for the clearance in the first place and If he chooses to do this it is for political reasons only.

They're not "doing their jobs". You *do* know what the word "former" means, right?

Former security officials are the resource that current security officials often call upon for help. They can retain clearances in order to provide this unpaid service to the government. Experience does count for something.
This has been going on for decades. It crosses administrations from both parties. To me, it seems exceedingly foolish to screw this up over something as petty as "that one said unkind things about me". Which pettiness speaks volumes about the actual character of Mr. Trump. That character quality is part of "fitness for the office", after all.
Clearance is not the same thing as access. All these clearance retentions allow is for them to be shown classified data immediately, in order to provide help in a timely fashion. Being able to retain classified materials after leaving the job is another problem entirely. It is my impression that few to none of these former officials actually retain any classified materials, except in memory. Which is inherent.

GW,
It strikes me as a little funny when regressives call President Trump "petty" when the people doing the most name calling have been members of the liberal regressive media and the raving lunatics from Hollyweird. If the clowns on TV could behave like adults, President Trump wouldn't sink to their level, but that's all they understand so that's exactly what he does. For comedic relief, I enjoy the hysteria and bloviating, but that's about as far as my tolerance for that sort of behavior goes.
Offline
Taking significant tangible revenge for only having been criticized isn't pettiness? Really?
About the only other president I ever heard of in my entire life who did something like that was Nixon with his enemies list. I thought that was petty then, and I think Trump threatening useful clearances is petty now.
As for California, to me it is the granola state, the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes. Weird doesn't cover the half of it.
Not sure what a "liberal regressive" is, but I know we all do better when all kinds get their say. In diversity of ideas there is the possibility of discovering something better. In sameness, there is no potential.
My own take is that we all should be both liberal and conservative (in the classic sense, not the overblown crap of today) as the need arises. A conservative is one who (rightly) says "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". A liberal is one who says (again, rightly) "if it is broke, then do fix it".
We get better government when the decision about whether something is broke or not is made objectively, without resort to any ideologies.
